The steady decline — from 450 in October to 362 in November and 245 in December — means the administration will have to allow in 10,943 Iraqis over the next nine months, or roughly 1,215 per month, to meet the target it has set for itself.”
And I say screw his target, how about getting real? As refugees, just what kind of citizenship requirements do they even have? Way too many gain entry into this country with the empty claims of needing “asylum”. Even the nazi war criminals did that.

Why should we up the numbers on these specific refugees, especially during a time when for all we know, they are just terrorists trying to get into the country? Even if we weren’t at war with them, why should any country be getting more “upping” on their immigration number over any other? With the overwhelming problem of so many illegal immigrants in this country, why is Bush working to let more immigrants in instead of securing the borders so we can get this mess cleaned up first?

It is getting to the point where I feel Bush is TRYING to do as much damage as possible before he leaves office so that the next pres will be spending their entire term on clean up, and even more so just out of spite because he knows how many of us are hating on him by now.

Don't we need the Iraqi's to stay over there for target practice?? How will we get rid of Iranians, if we don't practice on the Iraqis?

consider allowing"refugees" in to America as a bargaining chip to help acquire a stability to the region... callous as it may sound, Remember someone from over there had to convince/sell G.W. on the idea to invade/occupy to the extent we have.
also those countries that have taken in the those same refugees well, to take someones unwanted stuff off their hands is alwaus a good bargaining tool ...Sorta like, we will take them if you......

Predient Bush Senior Administration had a very interesting passport program for foriegners. Basically, it was invest in a US business to 49%
with $500K+ that employed 19 or more. And you got 3 US passports.

I think that the Bush's have had strange thoughts on immigration and foreign entry into the country for many years. When we bring displaced persons here, we are only abetting the inability of the host country to solve its own problems.

Post WWII, millions of Europeans got entry into country. But few Japanese did. The vital difference to the European entry was two programs The brain drain (they needed to have a needed US skill) and if they were presecuted (humanitarian reasons) . We are not appling those standards to today's immigration.

Now simply being displaced and they will make a case for your immigration here. In doing so, we will never get the Iraqi gov't to solve the displacement problem. Why should they?

This morning I read articles that seemed to completely contradict each other. One saying these refugees were returning, so they have their hands out for cash to "support" them. The other saying how they were still leaving. Hell, these people don't even really know what is going on over there, but they sure do use any excuse to ask for cash if they can find one.
As far as taking the "trash" from another country, not only did the Cuba trash come here a while back, they are still smuggling people in through Florida, and apparently the Coast Guard has about had enough of this sick BS.

MIAMI – In Miami, the U.S. Coast Guard is urging Cuban-American families to stop financing the dangerous business of smuggling people from Cuba to the United States.

So far, though, those pleas have fallen on deaf ears as the lucrative trade in human cargo continues to grow and more men, women and children die at sea. Based on recent reports, the Coast Guard believes as many as 65 people may have died in Cuban smuggling trips since Nov. 24.

Kunkel, Commander of the Seventh Coast Guard District. .."

And nobody is going to get me to believe that these smugglers are in it to give people a "better way of life"! It is all a cash trade, don't care who dies, as long as they get their money. ANY PERSON WHO INVOLVES A CHILD IN THIS BY PUTTING THEIR KIDS OR ANY OTHER IN THIS POSITION IS NOT THE KIND OF PERSON I WOULD WANT AS A CITIZEN ANYWAY.
