If everyone is so comfortable being single then why participate on these websites? I think the purpose of joinig these things is to meet someone you click with and if all goes well, no longer be single.

I don't know about everyone else but I'm looking for companionship. I love my dog and all but his conversational skills only go so far.
See, one can be very comfortable with being single.
And very comfortable with chatting on dating sites.
And very comfortable with meeting another who is very comfortable too.
And very comfortable with a companion.

It's all in the mind, sir.
It's a choice.
To be comfortable and content, in whatever.

it will be hard to give up the comfort I've built for myself but as you said if someone came along and wow! me ..I just wonder if I would pursue it with the tenacity that I do my single lifestyle... only time will tell

this is my point
if there needed to be no pursuit
and it just flowed and fit
at a reasonable pace

hey-great

and i do believe thats possible
but i know it also may be denial and a wall of fear i hide behind...
confused

indeed
time will tell
and i am so grateful that as time goes on
i have morphed into contentment
which does not mean complacentprofessor

50-50 split. Like others have said.

The freedom is nice but you have no one to share special moments with. :-(

hug beanes............I can truthfully say I relate to what your experiencing. I was happily married for 17 years. We had even worked together for most of those years. My husband died almost 5 years ago. When I lost my best friend, partner, playmate, and lover, I think I lost a part of myself. All are friends were also married and all my family are hundreds of miles away. I am defintely not comfortable with this empty" hole in my heart" of no one special to look forward to seeing, talking to, and spending time with together ...........Billie

Yes! ..beanes ...its all the happy moments I miss..the laughter we had, the witty exchange of nonsenses which were part of our days..there was a lot of detail in our shared life which made it so happy. Hardley a day could go by without him having me laughing (whether I wanted to or not)and also just about everybody that he was around. He was definitely the sunshine in my life...

Varies depending on the day, but for the most part semi-content, because otherwise why would I be on here in the hope of finding someone?

Just not sure at this time how serious I'd be to bring someone into my life because of circumstances and the lack of time/energy I seem to have not to give. It would feel wonderful to feel wanted and desired - but truly to be honest with myself - just don't feel like I'm worthy and desirable enough to appeal to another. Hard to admit that - but that's where I'm at - so I just know that its time to spend some time falling in love with myself and realize how truly special that I am ... simply for being me.

Not at all!! I am at my best, and human beings grow the most, when they are in mutually supportive relationships.
