I've one friend addicted to betting on the horses and another who is addicted to the fruit machines.

Also, at work I see the same people addicted to buying plenty of scratchcards every day so I think they are all equally addictive.

Just wondered what everyone else thinks?.... wine

Lottery tickets/scratch tickets (run by the govt). The poor man's tax where everyone feels like they're going to be a millionaire. Haven't played in years.

I guess its the addiction and the tendency to give in to the urge to indulge in the thing again and again that takes the toll. All of them would be equally addictive.

Actually it depends on your experience in the particular area. If you win once and then dont win for a few days and win again, its intermittent reinforcement which sets the pattern for addiction in reality.

Yep.... But I do love video poker in Elko Nevada.....they still have the old type video poker machines. I can play them for hours and hours (but may need to get up for a pee break) blushing I limit the $ I take and don't take any credit cards. applause

I think the gee-gees are the most highly addictive. I do play the odd poker machine but very very rarely. It has to be horses the amount of bookmakers in ireland alone is scandalous (sp?). I dont gamble maybe a small amount on grand national day, that is all.wave

Very true... Usually, you can tell by the attire that they should be at K-mart buying clothes instead of waiting on the big hit on the lottery. sigh

Lottery tickets I'd say. Although not all that exciting or action packed but at least where I live they are SOOOOOOOO readily available and everywhere. If you had that issue it'd sure be hard to kick it.

Lol no1 agrees with me. Shocker!!!!!!!!! rolling on the floor laughing

Yes, that's what I've noticed, a lot of single parents on benefits buy them then when they win £1 or £3 on them they come back into the shop and spend that on cards, obviously hoping that somehow they are going to win a really big prize. It's quite sad really cos they look as if they could do to spend the money of food for themselves and their kids.

I'm the same except for the £3 I spend per week on the irish lottery laugh

When my friend goes out and spends £60 on fruit machines in her lunch hour I can hardly believe it.
