Great thread !!!

I usually find your observations quite thoughtful.

As for me , a little reserved person that i am , i dont reveal all and dont ask for the same either. It depends on how things go , my level of comfort and confidence in that someone to speak my mind entirely.

But must add , what you see on the forums is really me.My real thoughts and feelings.

I am usually harder on myself than anyone else is on me...

I like to throw things out there...I am not afraid for people to see my faults and I am huge fan of self disclosure.

I usually try something like this...

_______________________________________

Subject: Information for the day...

This more than you likely care to know but...

I am goal oriented (goes with planning).

I think I am a good listener.

I am thinking about getting my hair cut short.

I like to help people.

I can't commit to buying a home, and therefore waste my money renting.

Sincerely,
Wendy

Just what I do. I don't know if it works, as I am still single, but hey it won't hurt the world to know more about me. I could be running it someday!

Great thread, and excellent observations.

Self disclosure, or candour, is something I look for with great eagerness.

Hell, to know the person you're chatting to displays a freedom with the good, and not so good about themselves is a sure sign I'm speaking to a genuine hooman!

Sacharine sweet is, and always will be, deeply suspicious to me.

Also, a humble person is never afraid to share their less than attractive qualities. But ironically, we can grow to love these people because of that very fact!

Nope, I'm a nutcase and proud of it!

Just hope I find me a fellow nutcase Princess.

Funny, Detente, that's pretty much how I would've put it, speaking for myself.thumbs up wave

It depends on what kind of disclosure you mean. I think TIMING is the most important element.
"Hi. See my pic and profile." isn't quite enough disclosure to draw interest.
but,
"Hi. I saw in your profile you're ticklish...... Let me tell you about this time in 1984 when I tickled my ex-wife until she peed her pants. We were getting ready for a hot and heavy night, and she had been going down on me, and ..........."
Whoa. Stop there buddy. Too much too soon.
scold

I think it's all in the timing.

Genuineness & vulnerability are extremely important - but I think that one also has to be cautious as well to not share too much .... especially when first getting to know someone. I think that trust needs to be established and to also ascertain whether are not the person that you are "baring your soul too" is worthy of that trust.

MAybe the reason so many of us are single/not involved is because we refuse to be somewhat vulnerable. Some simply not only keep the wall up, they keep adding to it's thickness.. Long ago, I stopped trying to penetrate someone's walls. I for one, had very thick walls and kept them up for a long time. If they were still up, I would die a very lonely man..

I only want people in my life that are there because they want to be there and I only want into the lives of others because they want me there. Anyone can post a profile that makes them look good, again, long ago I gave up the look good. I want and do feel good. I feel good about myself and everything I do. But, that is simply me..
