can't single any "one" out. I will say that I saw Andre Segovia in person before he died,
one man , one guitar, lots of people throwing roses........he made the guitar sing as though it were being played by several people at te same time. I remember on the program that was passed out at that apearance a close up of his short fat fingers.....lol......Never will forget that one. truly a master and loved by many.

Great thhread! Figures it's from a fellow musician grin
OK, from a player and a listener I have to say Hendrix. Mostly for how his playing influenced all of the vote choices. Plus, Hendrix is still pissing off guitar players everywhere who are aspiring to find pure form and tone!
Honourable mentions should be made to David Gilmour, John Goodsall, and Joe Satriani.... head banger head banger head banger
JMO
keith cheers

Anyone who is really interested in guitar should listen to Tommy Emmanuel who is probably the most gifted acoustic player technically, then there's Martin Taylor who plays and arranges Jazz pieces like a dream, and Robben Ford, a genius of modern blues.

Check them out on Youtube.

It's rather unimaginable really, considering he was setting the standard as he was going along. Had he not died so young, the music world and especailly that of the guitar would have evolved in an entirely different direction. JMO though.

If six was nine what a message and who else could play along the watchtower with such passion you know your stuff when chas chandler seen him in London he was blown away. Clapton in his hazy days and out off that school with John Mayall went on to form cream with that ideal in mind hence his driffting into solos off the master.

It is indeed something to think about considering the huge influence he had in such a short time. Deep very deep.
