I grew up around guns, and I do own guns, but I do not keep them in my house. I leave 'em back home at my parents house. Although, I should probably just sell them, as I haven't hunted in quite awhile.....

I dunno if it's the same in the USA.. But my (ex) father in law here, Hunts.. and has guns.

He HAS to have a locked gun cabinet.. and has yearly (and random) inspections to check they ARE locked in there. (he has to have a gun license too)

Not the children I'm afraid of...afraid for in some cases.
All mine were destroyed after a certain incident by the police.

I find rope is much better for restraining kids - they tend to call your bluff with gun, cause they know you won't really shoot them. Would we?laugh

I grew up in a home with guns, was taught to respect them.
Raised 3 children in a home with guns, They were taught to respect the potential danger.
Have a permit to carry a concealed weapon onlty because it is required for handgun ownership.
Have rarely if ever thought of the guns as self defence weapons. Living in the sticks has it's advantages. My guns are only used for sporting purposes, but they would be used for defence in an extreme circumstance. I was taught that guns are to only be pointed at living things you intend to make DEAD things out of.

I believe that responsible gun ownership is a deterrent to crime. If some of these kids going off shooting up schools had been taken out with a responsible adult instead of playing video games they might have understood things better

I have guns in my home and small children. They have learned at a very young age what they can't do. I am a Texan. Who doesn't have a gun down here?
