Slavery? God made man, and man made slaves.

WWII? God makes war on sin, men make war on other men.

9/11? Well, scottishlass said that very well in her post.

And during all this, I see Him shaking His head and saying why can't they just love each other as I intended.

Tut tut, long absent Charlos, you know better.

Hi Gnome, nice to see you again !

I was in Cape Town for 2 weeks and thought of you all the time, almost forgot to go to the beaches.

After that dull experience I need another break and will go to Fuerteventura next week, so see you in February !

BTW, I will NOT repeat everything from those other god threads, you can look it up again anytime you wish, have fun.

God gives a free choice to obey him or not Gilly; he allowed his only son to sacrifice for our salvation; have we learned anything? Doesn't look like it when you consider world problems on a grand scale such as the events you have mentioned. Any time we deviate from his mandates we are on our own; I am surprized that more people don't consider the implications and consequences of their actions, and they are quick to blame failure on God. I say don't ask what God can do for you, but how can you please and honor him? peace

The people of the "civilized" world have fought long and hard to have all mention of God removed from schools, government, and the public square. They all run around claiming God doesn't exist and even if He does, I don't want to hear about it. As soon as something bad happens, everyone starts asking, where was God and how could He allow this to happen. Why doesn't anyone want to talk about or hear about God until something bad happens?

The same place he's always been, letting people have free will to accept or reject his love. What would be the point of having a god who forced people to do right?

what's the point of having a god ?

Slavery in it's original sense is almost a thing of the past. It has been around forever and not only a black thing. Of course God was there otherwise it would of never reached the hearts of men.

No god because you can't find a good argument. Is that what you what we've come to? "If I can't find someone to explain it to me, then I'm just not going to believe." You guys must be experts in eletrical physics, internal combustion engines, and online data transfer systems.

Just because you don't understand it, doesn't mean it's not true.

"Isn't the bible a bunch of old out dated writings and rules?"

There is an old law called GRAVITY. And it has been around a long time. But if you jump off a tall building, you will probably still die.

Just because it's old, doesn't mean it's not true.

"If there is a God, then why do the innocent suffer?" Why not ask this. "If there is no God, what makes them innocent, and who cares if they suffer?"

Just because you don't find an answer to suit you, doesn't mean it's not true.

And finally for the atheist out there...
I would love to meet the man that is absolutely sure there is no God, because that would mean he has exhausted all possibilities. He would know everything! A true atheist would have been everywhere in the universe to know there is no God. I got to meet that guy. If he has all the answers, I have some questions for him. "If you melt enough dry ice, could you swim in it?" "Our knees bend one way. If they bent the other way, what would chairs look like?" and the classic "What came first, the chicken or the egg?"

Just because you don't want to believe in something, doesn't mean it's not true.

conversely however, just because 'you' 'want' to believe, doesnt make it 'true' either dunno

a 'true' believer would have no use for faith by your own argument confused
