The pope says: no condoms, pressuposing that monogamy is the unique reality.

Diseases, not wanting commitment (for the sake of wanting to sleep with anyone without feeling pressured or guilty- yeah, that's the only reason that one wants to avoid commitment ) demands condom usage...

With the westernisation of the world, where Islamic countries now endorse women in politics,

Do you think they will have to change all the principles to adjust to new realities the ones that will persist on religian will be held as abnormals?

The debris, the dogmas, the add ons are slowly disintegrating and what we have left is the truth and the real meaning of what God intended; and only goodness perpetuates life and ensures our eventual survival; we are somehow managing to do it by God's grace laugh

Religion as what it used to be is dwindling in popularity.

There already is a wave of change in the religious principles in accordance with the times. This i am not talking wrt christianity as i am not fully aware but religion perse and in the east.

On the other hand with the emerging awareness and better education , there are bound to be questions raised against dictums or rules. People need a logical explanation to reassure them in what they must believe. And it is definitely going to get difficult unless some of the understood " rules " are made simple and easy to follow.

So, faith and religion are there to stay !!! But the perspectives of explanation , understanding and application will change.

Semantics are very important here. I'm trying to figure out if you mean 'religious principles' in the sense of 'religious morals', because I'm not aware of any particular principles the church may have, other than spreading their word, and morals are certainly not unique to believers/theists.

MHO professor laugh I'm very much a believer in a secular society and personal choice, and think personal belief should be just that, personal. That's not to say churches and religions should be banned or broken up. I think it was Voltaire who said "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it".
I'm in full agreement with that, but it only goes so far and for me that buck stops when religions try to foist their beliefs on others,eg, contraception, genetic engineering, abortion, etc.

So if the pope doesn't want to catch his wild oats in a barley sack then that's his business and his alone. But if he thinks I should abide by his rules then the only finger I'm going to be waving in his direction sure isn't a thumbs up, and good riddance to him and his fairytales. (Ducks and waits for incoming).
