Still smoking?

I know several members were going to quit smoking this year. How's it going? My target date is the 15th. I've started taking Chantix. The ciggies are starting to taste like warm air with no real "bite" to them. (that's a good thing)

Hope everyone is successful!

For me, the hardest addiction to break was the psychological one. Even now, there are times that I could choke someone for a cigarette.

I learned quickly that I'm still a b*tch, one that smokes..........blues rolling on the floor laughing scold won't fall into that nonsensical stupid trap again! Justifying smoking..................frustrated

Hmmm.

Something to consider. I have a love/hate relationship with cigarettes.

My youngest begged me not to quit until she moves out (where's her backbone??) laugh

I've been smoking since I was 12. That's a lot of triggers to beat.

What do you think would happen to the world, Indy, if the tobacco companies were forced to remove ALL the harmful additives from cigs? Riots? Mahem?

Remember when they banned smoking on flights and that guy went bonkers?

Not sure if it would help you or not - years ago I quit for a year. A friend made me a wooden cigarette. Knowing that the triggers are mainly in the mind and not the blood stream. Anyway. He took a slim dowel rod, cut it to length and slid the wrapper of one of my cigs over it.

I chewed it, tapped it, twirled it. I know it helped me to quit.

You CAN DO IT!

I knew smoking was addictive when I started MANY years ago. So the only person I hold responsible is me.

That dowel idea is a good one. The chantix is kicking in as the cigs now taste like hot air. But, like you the triggers are still there. I'm chewing a lot of coffee stir sticks and I will be chisel jawed from chewing all of this gum. It's just the psychological part that's the bear.....at this moment.

There was a time I would have gotten up in the middle of the night and ran to a gas station for a pack of cigs. At this time, I don't think I'd do that.

Like you, it's a love/hate relationship. I won't quit because someone else wants me to...I'm too bull headed for that... For me, it's lung/health issues and I would like to see my grandaughter grow up.

my 2 cents~

I've cut way down, and the 15th is my "due date" to quit. I'm taking that Chantix. When I do light up they taste like hot air w/no flavor (which is a good thing).

May end up buying stock in a gum and straw company as I'm doing a lot of chewing on both. laugh
