Ever since Henry Ford rolled the first Model T Fords off the assembly line, people have had a love affair with automobiles. As a mechanic, I'm curious - what kind of car do you now have, and if you could have any dream car you wanted, what would it be?

At present I have a 1987 Pontiac Firebird that is a restoration in progress and, also, a daily driver.

My dream car, however, would be a 1994 Dodge Viper. '94 was the first year, and they were all hand built. Plus, I love the idea that a 70k$ Dodge can run with a 250k$ Ferarri!

VROOM, VROOM!!!

Yeah, you gotta watch those side pipes! When I worked for the Chrysler dealer in Oak Ridge, I had to go into Knoxville, pick one up, and bring it back. HE, HE, HE!!! 170 on I-75, weaving traffic, with at least 25% of the pedal left, and I lived to tell it! I looooooooove those cars!head banger

I have a little MAZDA3 5-Door (since I work for them, least I could do). Love the car.

Dream car? Hmmmmph. Maybe a Corvair convertible. I'll pass on the exotics - you see too many of them around here as it is. dancing

My last car was a 1990 Mercedes 190-E; certainly not the top of the line, but a great car in great shape (her name was Sadie!). I don't even own a car now; I get around by foot or bus or taxi or Metro. But I want a Mini-Cooper!

The Corvair would be cool. And, I imagine you do see more than your share of exotics in sunny Cali! cheers

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot the Mini-Cooper! They are an awesome little ride, and I bet the mpg are a sight better than the Viper!

Hard to beat German engineering! And solar power may not be as far away as we think - the hybrids are already doing very well, and I saw an electric/gas hot rod that a fellow built that turns in impressive numbers for an electric. Something like 0 - 60 in 5.4 seconds, give or take.

I still go about with my 1998 Volkswagen Golf MK3 TDI, Its has never let me down lol, as a vehicle technician too its easier to restore when its breakdown wherever, compare to the more electronically and complicated design where u almost need to xray the system for diagnosis. I've seen , work on, and admire cars, but I dont admire the problems and cost that goes with it compare to my cost saving VW as long it can go over the maximum speed limit stipulated on European freeways.

I have an 03 jeep gets pretty good mileage for what it is
and I usually try to bike motorcycle or walk weather permitting. had a saab that was a great vehicle, it was to my way of thinking - pretty ugly- outside ,but beautiful interior and wonderful to drive ,had to give it an honorable mention. A hybrid is what I'm looking forward to.

They say if you love something, set it free. I did.

75 Volkswagen Beetle La Grande, with much reservation.

Much more rust, but with Porshe engine, dual De Lorto carbs from Lamborghini....story for the campfires....

Currently have a Pontiac Sunbird.

My favorite car I ever owned was my maroon 1977 Lincoln Continental with red cloth interior. Man I loved that car. It was HUGE. If I got in a wreck in that boat - I win. Good car. I sold that car for college tuition crying

Dream car... hmm...
Some kind of Cadillac. And I don't mean one of the new little cadillacs that look like small little roundy cars.
I mean one of those old cadillacs from the 70s/80s that were half the size of a city bus and very square/box looking.
A shiny black one with the gold colored crome.
And black cloth interior.
And if you buy it for me, I promise I won't sell it for tuition.
grin
