The company I work for has a production facility in Letterkenny. Since my dream is to relocate to Europe it would obviously be a lot easier to go there with a job. Plus I'm Irish-American and they speak a form of English lol.rolling eyes

I'm sure I would be able to transfer there but it might take a few years to find the right opportunity. Since there are a lot of people from Ireland on this site maybe you could tell me your impressions of the city and the area. I know it won't be warm there but based on my limited knowledge it doesn't get that cold there either (when compared to Ohio) Any suggestions??? confused

Letterkenny is a lovely part of Ireland, the people are very friendly and the whole town is taking off at a great pace.It used to be in the forgotten county but the whole county is prospering and Letterkenny is also big time.Yes it can be cold but they do have central heating and there are plenty of shops to buy warm clothing.Give it a try cos if you don,t do, you won,t know.Come for a holiday and make up your own mind. There are a lot of US citizens living in that county who came back to find their Irish roots and loved it so much they decided to stay.Well thats my tuppence worth, I hope it helpsgrin

So good I had to say it twice
Thanks Cathy. I am planning on traveling there in the late Spring. Does Ireland have any regulations regarding mandatory vacation time? I have 4 weeks currently and I'm sure I could keep my current benefits. I was just wondering if the standard benefits were better in Ireland. I know they are in much of Europe. wave

Pramerica is it ? I've only passed through the town several times so can't really say much about it, but Donegal itself is fantastic. And they certainly do speak a form of English, it's the sexiest accent ever imho, oh gods those Donegal lassies !! But I'm losing track of myself laugh

I think the average hols over here is about four weeks in total as well, though some of them are pretty much mandatory for days such as Christmas (waits to be corrected). Weatherwise it doesn't get particularly cold, nor particularly hot, but there will be a lot of wet up in the Northwest that's for sure. I'd go for it myself. HTH.

When I was in College I went to a Music, Art and Drama festival there and I can honestly say that it was one of the best weekends I ever had.. the people in that part of Ireland are very warm and friendly and there is some beautiful scenery... take a trip and check it out
