If people were ready to die because

1. Their race was threatened
2. Their sexuality was threatened
3. Their gender was at stake
4. Their freedom(be it democracy) was threatened
WHY IS IT SO STRANGE TO ACCEPT THAT PEOPLE ARE READY TO DIE FOR THEIR GOD?

All of the above groups at a certain point were called "terrorists".The words is relatively recent but the idea was applied towards the groups above when they fought for their freedom, when they fought against discrimination!

Because Islam is unfortunately the religion of the countries with most treasured resources sought by the westerns and it has strong barriers for foreign entrance, exploitation, they have to pay for it!
If Europe, America had as much Petroel and so on as the middle east has, would they bother if there was democracy there? Why don't they enforce democracy in Africa now?Not that the pressure is desirable, hell no, good that Africa takes it's time to learn by its own mistakes!

Just my state of mind at the moment

People are called Terrorists when they terrorise the community. No-one minds anyone dying for their God. The problem arrises when these God-dying people include others in their dying, who, if given a choice, obviously do not feel the need to die for their God?... being people innocently going about their daily business, and not being of the mind that their God requires them to die for Him, but to live the life that He gave them.

Does Africa not have democracy? ... each individual country being independent?... with public elected officials? Who is the "they" to enforce anything there? There is oil in Africa, plenty of it. And gold and silver and other precious metals. Unfortunately, in Africa, unlike the middle east, the wealth is not shared with the populace.

If you search the internet you will find other forums that would welcome these racial discussions of yours. Do you not know by this time that these discussions of yours, unless you are toadied to, always degenerate into slanging matches, and attract the Moderators attention?

Please do not get hysterical now .... I will not re-visit this Thread, so any reply you give will be wasting your time. Maybe there Are other folk here who want to delve into your bog hole with you..... good luck.

That is an excellent and thought provoking point Christinathumbs up

it is something that should be brought out into the mainstream of thinking.
and i Agree America would have offered freedom and democracy as it always does... but maybe not so eagerly if thier were no monetary gain.

We have (America) offered freedom to many countries who really had nothing to offer us as monetary... and have fought wars with so many other enemies to those we help to democracy.

But you are correct sometimes when a helping hand becomes a bullying fist... makes you wonder why it is so important.

All we can do is have Faith That somwhere in it all, someone is following the Course to religious paths in mind.

In my opinoin, i would do whatever i thought i must to stay on my path to heaven.

thank you for such a great ponderence of the day.thumbs up

Ever notice how little kids playin gin the sandbox at the park get along fine despite any differences and then it goes to he.. as they grow up and are exposed to so called grown ups?

Someone always wants to be the leader,it evolves, sadly, from the childish stageof'it's mine and I won't share' to the adult stage of 'it's urs and I want it.'

It makes more sense to me that people would be willing to die for their God, than any other cause. Religious wars have been going on since before recorded history. But I don't know that both sides view this as a religious war.

As for the “war on terrorism” I think it’s not much unlike the former “War on Drugs” here in America. Politicians feel they win popularity points by paying lip service to it. They continue to do what they would have done anyway, (go after the resources) but now label it the war on this or the war on that.
“Operation Go get the oil!” has less appeal than “War against terrorism!”
They just call it what they think will be more acceptable.

Like I said in a different thread days ago,
most Americans don't even have a clue why we're at war.

I can understand what your saying though I am not sure I agree with it.

Africa is not learning People are still dying, Kenya being a prime example.

The presumption about oil is not true, Please remember the Balkans.

Look at Sudan we should be there now

I do not care if someone is black white christain muslim jewish everyone has a right to life

we would not tolerate the gassing of thousands in europe so why should we turn a blind eye to it because it happens elsewhere

The Un should be strong and if a countries willfully neglects starves and kills its citizens then that goverment should be removed.

Just because someone is african does not mean they should be left to be killed or starve to death raped or mained.

Anyone has a Right to die for their GOD/Religion.
What they do NOT have is the Right to include me in their Plans.
If they feel like blowing themselves to "Smitherenes" let them do it quietly,or maybe not so quietly somewhere devoid of any Human Beings, since the only right they have is to take out their Own Fool Selves.
Go somewhere out in the Desert and Blast away
I wonder sometimes by what Moral Standards they are justifying their actions.

Mozambique learned you know? Not that it is the only country that learned!

Eta is still killing people in EU, would you then put it as Europe is a mess? Europe just had time to learn huh?
If you compare Africa from the 80's and now, you will see that it has learned. It's a great pity that the media just show the bad side. Really, we can survive without being colonised.

It's a pity that the media and the politicians will decide when to project our(Africa) good side, besides the wonderful jungle, which is also a sign of good administration, otherwise we would be eating all the lions.

UN showed weakness, has been showing in the middle east...still. Well, i guess America...and Europe should show strenght...since their Leaders are who decide what to do with the rest of the World. One day, G8 will be reduced to 5, now that's scrary, isn't it?Not much will be needed, they will represent the world and its people. If we constantly complain about the politicians i wonder how are we giving them more power by "reducing" the nations!?

Well, nations, just like couples do have problems right? The judge- UN should be strong enough when needed, not corruptable, not just judge the smaller fish with efficience.
Well, i guess Africa will need more ...maybe 2 centures, just like Europe and America needed to stabilise their citizens, to create peace among their citizens! Anyway, somebody has to be worse huh?
So, if something's wrong with a country, we've created UN to try to solve the situation.

I'm just wondering...how did western world cover the war in Angola? Just like any war in Africa? If yes, i wouldn't expect it to be different because America always had a priviledged relationship with Angola's oil.Meaning that, it's much easier to deal with the africans concerning their resources thatn with the midd easterns! It's possible to see great western companies exploiting african resources. Not that it's bad, just that there is "cooperation" in that area as in many between Africa and western world. So, no need to create great problems with eachother...?
Nigeria is basicly "made" by generalsrolling on the floor laughing it has it's resources...difficult huh? It must be noticed to be the most corrupted country in the world like one did put one day...mmmm

I would never day for my God.
But, if it was just for their God that this people die for, yes, they would romanticly die in a desert.

Hmm, i had a lot of faith in Kenya and thought it had already 'learnt' till a few weeks ago when we were pulled back to the stone age.

How a person will kill his neighbour because he speaks the same language as the reigning president is still a mystery to me.

These idiots are the ones living in slums. Yes they are idiots because i don't see how an inteligent man will burn his neighbour's house and not think his will catch fire!

"Mozambique learned you know? Not that it is the only country that learned!"

Christina, I just have to comment on this statement. I travelled through Mozambique shortly after the war ended and met many ex-combatants. I shared camp fires with them and tried to hear their story.

What struck me as profound was that people telling me about their terrible hurt - blamed the war and not each other.

I think that it was this attitude that led this wonderfull country back from the brink. It will probably also be the fact that South Africans can not forgive each other that will make us topple into the abyss.

Like others, the problem I have with suicide bombers and the like is that while they are making the choice to sacrifice themselves, they are also making the choice for me if I happen to be standing next to them when they explode themselves.

Buddhists monks douse themselves with gasoline and burn themselves to death to make their statements. They make their statement very dramatically with less collateral damage and suffering; while I think their behaviour extreme, it is their choice.

It may not be a good thing that so many walk through the world unaware of global suffering but I fail to see that wholesale, random slaughter does anything to alleviate the problems that exist or advance the cause.

Ask a soldier honey.... he fights... not for democracy, religion, freedom, race, creed, coulor or country.......... he fight for the men who stand beside him

Because he is a soldier he fights where the politics of the day send him...... that is the first and main reason why a Soldier fights
