Following up on my last post....I DO NOT have any problem with people from other countries coming here to live legally. Very few U.S. citizens. do. For the people that are waiting to enter, it's really unfair.

Maybe someone can tell me why they WANT people here illegally. Is there a benefit to you? Most people feel like we should take care of our own needy rather than taking on another country's problems.
Certainly from posts on other threads, GOD knows the United States has so many problems including HEALTH CARE, that the whole world gripes about on a daily basis on these threads, homelessness, bla bla bla...the list goes on and on about our deficiencies.

A country without borders will eventually cease to be a country. Maybe that's what people really want?

While it won't happen, the next President hopefully will put much pressure on the Mexican government to quit shipping their citizens here. It's odd that if you enter Mexico illegally you can go to prison for a lengthy term. confused

almost all my friends are Mexicans
is what I was referring to. People in the sixties excused their racial bias by saying that about black people. Your thread is 100% anti mexican...yet you make the absurd claim that most of your friends are mexican

Usually when people focus on how unbiased they are, they've done a great job of shuffling them...

If it wasn't true, it would be rolling on the floor laughing

No..I don't think we should terminate our welfare system altogether. I do believe that we should eliminate the "anchor" baby loophole though. As a society we are somewhat obligated to help some that are more unfortunate than ourselves but to be raped by people from other countries is inexcusable. They cross the border knowing if they give birth here they can pillage the system. It is a digrace that the US allows this to happen for all these years. They need to eliminate the santuary cities, anchor baby loophole and crack down hard on all those who harbor and hire illegals. I see nothing wrong with helping one of our own unfortunates. These people take away from the progress we could otherwise give to our own people to help them be more self sufficient. All the funds are being squandered by people of another nation who have absolutely NO RESPECT for this coountry or it's laws or it's people.

Are you really truely jeleous and not proud a bout people in need getting some helth benefits and would you rather through them in concentration camps and lynching them on the streets to feel happy or what?
Take a deep breath and try to remember why the economy is weak right now instead of this populism dear lady. Try not to be cheated toward groups of human beings whom have no role what so ever in the bad economichal situation in your coutry.
Every single time the same story......Republicans taking over and they bringing the country toward catasrophy and whom they are blaming a gain and a gain? Immigrants!!!!!!!!!!
Cool down and get more real , will you?
Kids born by immigrants are americans and they can become wonderful citizens in your country and paying for better welfare as it has always been in America.
Once upon a time your own grand grand parents were in the same exact situation but it passed !

No disrespect intended here Capi, but this is problably one of the most racist threads I've read on here. I understand that you live in Cal. therefore you see a larger percentage of Mexican people. That however doesn't give you the right to assume anything nor jump to conclusions by looking at someone. I find it insulting to any reasonable persons intelligence that you claim this is about the welfare system. Not only that, but when you are called on it(and righfully so by the way) you then backtrack by using the "most of my friends are Mexican" line. If you want to discuss a social issue then discuss the issue not the people or the race.

Oh and for what it's worth to you I have this to say. I've worked in the construction indusrty my entire life and I'll take 1,000 "Mexicans" over 2,000 "Americans". They are some of the hardest working people that I know, often working later into the day and earlier in the morning than others. Why? Because unlike the lazy population that this country has become, they "do what they have to do" to support their families.

Yes sir we have that of course. I know you refering to me talking like that and it is ok. What can I do a bout that? If you are a certified psycholog and mean that I am troubled because of the way I think then I beleive you are not right at all. If you are not agree with me then write your ideas in here as I do. This is a free froum and what I write or what you write can be read by many others and then they all can decide what they think. I am sorry you think I am out of psycholigical balance because I hate racism and attacks on the weak ones and beleive deeply in people should participate more in policy and knowing a bout where things coming from and how differnet situations in a country are created instead of running on the streets with torchs and act uncivilised!

no Shipoder55, why do u say that?
I do say, if some one is getting all these benefits, at the very least,
" LEARN THE LANGUAGE"
" LEARN THE NATIONAL ANTHUM"
" LEARN TO WRITE AND READ ENGLISH"
you can't have it both ways, it can't all be "give me, give me"
I don't give a rat's ... who it is, where he came from, If you are ABLE TO WORK, there's is no such a "free ride", or is there?

go inside the homeless shelters, how may " american veterans" do you see? If you want the benefits that this great country has to offer you, what are you doing to give back to " AMERICA", would you put your life on the line for this great country, would you die for it?

would you die for the freedom that is giving each and every one of us?

when was the last time, you did some thing nice for our " soldiers"?
or their families?

this is not about being racist, I don't know where u got that from?

But here the common language is " English", and respect our constitution.

Getting back to the Welfare system,.....(ahem)....
I agree that some is required by some needy legal citizens. The system was broken down to giving to the wrong people by various peoples, and rewarding those that do the least with more money & more bennefits. They know how to play the game to maximize "entitlements".
I have seen this first hand.

As far as ILLEGAL immigrants go, that is another story. One that is not grasped appearently by many at home and from other nations....but that should be addressed on a different thread IMHO.

I am a single mother. I have a four year old son. I work full time and up until now have been a full time student. I make an average salary for a administrative assistant in Oklahoma. My salary based on family size in the US is consider, Poor to Very Poor. Yet, I don't "qualify" for any assistance from the government.

With that said, I have found a way to position myself such that, I can put away money for retirement, contribute to my church, send my child to private school, maintain a low level of debt, pay my bills, and still have just enough money to do fun things on occassion.

I make a lot of sacrifices, I bargain shop for everything, and I drive a car that is reliable but not fancy by any means.

If I can do it, anyone can do it.

I believe we should kick the welfare system to the curb. Leave the responsiblity of distributing charity to the church and other non-profit civil organizations. Make people take responsibility for their actions.

Just my opinion though...you migh say I lean a little to the right.

What made it racist? I'm curious? I do know there are studies out about the cost of illegal immigration to the broader society in terms of education, health and general wefare cost.

With all the racism being played out in the primaries...I thought I was hyper-vigilant to racist remarks. Maybe I missed something?

I did my research. It's the same price to send my son to private school as it is to put him in a state funded day care. The education is three times that he would get in a state facility.

Also in my opinion...if we are going to attack illegal immigrants on welfare then we should also attack dead beat parents abusing the system. Hey chances are the illegals at least have a job.

I believe our country has a balancing act to perform when it comes to illegal immigration. It's like getting married...Spouses, you can't live with 'em, and you just can't shoot 'em.

Illegal immigrants contribute widely to the US economy, much more than some might think, it's not right that they are here, it's not fair that they "use" our economy, but we can't do without them.

My son goes to a private school, it cost around $500.00 a month. Not including uniforms, lunches, fundraisers, special projects, class room fees and contributions, school parties, etc.

Sometimes people play their strong suit first.... I think that's what you're finding. Take some comfort in the fact that almost ANY polling done in the U.S. wants the illegal immigration issued addressed. Even the CS poll done showed it as a problem. Most people who like illegal immigrants here most likely have a direct financial benefit, you will probably find.

It's more about stiffling a healthy discussion about a major U.S. concern. It happens on here a lot. There's also a "herd" mentality on here....or follow the pack~
