This is my first experience with emotional blackmail ... I am so pissed I would love to hit something.


The guy I was dating was supposed to come pick up his belongings and leave my key on the kitchen table months ago. When I got home from work on Friday I noticed he had been here ... his belongings were gone and the bathroom door was closed with a note taped to the door saying "My name is Tommy ... I know I will have a good home here."

When I opened the door, there was a very sick kitty lying on the rug. His eyes were running and crusted over, scabs on his ears, some kind of open wound on his hind leg and wheezing when he breathed.

I called to find out what had happened to this kitty to leave him in such bad shape ... and he said "well nothing happened to him - just that our family doesn't believe in spending money on vet bills."

He knows I am having financially difficulty right now I said "well if you want me to take care of this kitty, I will need help with Vet bills to get him healthy." He said "No .... LOOK - if you don't want the cat just tell me and I will take him out and shoot him!"

He knows how I feel about animals. When I took him to the Vet today, the doctor said "I can't believe this cat was someone's pet!"

There is still a canoe of his in my back yard ... If I thought someone would buy a canoe in the middle of the winter, I would sell it and pay the vets bills with the money.

How could someone be such a jerk to me and cruel to an innocent animal?

Someone ought to take him behind the Woodshed and sh.....err,put him out of his Misery!

If I were you hon... Take kiity to a shelter....change your phone number and let be done with it...kitty will be taken care of....so no guilt...close the door on thqat before it gets out of hand ....jodi



emotional blackmail is a form of abuse......using your emotions against you to get them where they want to be..... back where they were with you basically.....is a asuggestion

Criminal charges could be laid against him for animal cruelty and they way he went about leaving the poor things behind.
.....BUT that doesn't change the condition of the cat and or your situation.

Place an ad in the "cheap ad newspaper" in your area. Every community I have ever been in has one. Sell the damn canoe, have the kitty repaired, keep the balance (if any) for your time invested.

See dear lady, there is a solution to every problem!! You have indentified the problem, it is time to get into the solution..

What I don't understand is why dump the kitty on me? Why not just go shoot it if he was directed by his daughter to get rid of it?

He is an ass - and trying to excercise his last bit of control - trying to get you to take care of a helpless animal - There should be a shelter nearby - used to live in Manchest NH a while back. I am glad your life gets to move on from this fool - you seem too nice a person to put up with that junk

Starliteisbrite has the right idea. Take the kitten to a shelter and let them press charges,somethings come back to bite you in the azz.

Put that canoe in your local paper or ebay....I'm the same way about animals and that is a terrible thing to do to someone. I'm sorry...if I had any extra, I would send you some to help out. You have a wonderful heart and I know that kitty is so very grateful to you! [/size]

I could not sleep at night knowing he was going to shoot a helpless animal. It may in fact be necessary to put this animal down due to their neglect but it will be done in a humane way.


I love animals more than most people.

If I sell the canoe on ebay, will I have to pay to ship it? The Vet bills will pail in comparison to the shipping fees on a canoe!

Take the kitty to the shelter...it will only be a daily reminder of him if you keep it around.

Sell the canoe anyway...use the money to take a weekend get away...

And finally...Tell him to take a flying leap and to expect a phone call from the ASPCA in regards to an animal cruelty complaint...follow that with a comment on how much of a insensetive ass he is...
