Astrology is the study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human affairs. As defined by dictionary.com. There are many versions of astronomy. Sun sign, Vedic, archetypal, natal, Horary... Some of the claims they make are inherently contradictory (some say the moment of birth is important, others say it's the month, etc. If there were/If there is an effect, and it's real, it can be measured. Repeatedly and accurately, that's the scientific method.

Some sort of force from the heavens.

There is no force, known or unknown, that could possibly affect us here on Earth the way astrologers claim. There are only four fundamental forces: gravity, electromagnetism, and two forces called the strong and weak force (these last two work only on the atomic level). These known forces weaken too fast, letting one source utterly dominate (the Moon for gravity, the Sun for electromagnetism). The gravity from the planets in our solar system is a tiny fraction of the Moon's. So if gravity were the force behind astrology, then the Moon would dominate all the planets combined. Where's it's sign?

Astrologers tend to rely on our ability to remember hits and forget misses. Even an accurate prediction may be simple chance. Study after study has shown that claims and predictions made by astrologers have no merit, it's chance, chaos. I'll make a prediction, here it goes, that july 4th will be a sunny day 10 years from now.

There is harm, real harm, in astrology. It weakens further people's ability to rationally look at the world, an ability we need now more than ever.

Thank you. The only way I feel astrology has any truth in real life stems from what season a child is born, not with the stars and planets. If the child was a summer or winter pregnancy. Mind you, this is my theory and not to be taken as science. But hear me out. The factors are, what foods were available to the pregnant mother, how much sunlight she received, and lastly, the temperature on the newborn baby, if the newborn had to be subjected to extreme cold or hot, those would have an effect on the infant. Especially cold, the baby would feel shocked get cranky from being so suddenly uncomfortable and would shiver, expanding more energy to stay warm (that's why farmers have to feed their livestock more in the winter, they shiver away more recourses) than having those recourses going to the infants developing brain and other organs.

The ancient Mesopotamians were among the first to record an organized system of astrology. At the time, astrology was a strictly mainstream religious pursuit, strictly interpreted by a caste of priest-kings. A pantheon of gods emerged, associated with the sun, moon and the brightest stars in the sky, which were actually planets.

Women pals - Leo or Aries
