I kind of know where your coming from Lassie. In America it's practically a crime to be proud to be white, unless you live in an Irish community somewhere. I'm 100% mixed blooded American boy, Scotch, Irish, Welsh, and Cherokee. My earliest ancestor in the new world, was a Scott from an English prison released to work as a servant in the new world...a debt slave. My Great Grandfather was a Christian Minister, there is a story that his Father purchased slaves with the sole intent of giving them freedom. So I resent when someone of African heritage looks to me as if I owe them something for the toils of their ancestors.

I will buy only althletic jerseys with white players names on the back, not because I'm racist. Rather because, even though I admire many black athletes, I resent the idea that all the best athletes are black. Say it loud "I'm Black and I'm Proud" makes you courageous, herioc. Try being proud to be white, and you get associated with Hitler. Makes me sick.

I feel the same way about women applying for jobs as policeofficers and firefighters, If they can pass the same tests then they should be offered the same jobs but the test should not be different to accomodate a race or sex just to meet govt quotas.

I knew a man in Louisiana that was a victim of this. He was top of his class in the Police Academy, and he applied and tested three times with the Shreveport Police Department. Each time, he scored the highest in the test group. Each time he was passed over, and a woman or minority was selected instead. And it is true that women and minorities are not required to score as high to get a passing score.

It gets even worse than that. I worked in the oilfield with a guy that was a former police officer. He quit because a similar form of bureaucracy. Ever heard of racial profiling?

Apparently, there is some kind of reverse profiling policy. Example: An officer is assigned to work in a predominantly hispanic neighborhood. He/she must limit arrest or detainment of hispanics, so that they won't complain about racial profiling. He said, "You end up letting crime slide because, you have to find some other race to pick on."

One of my brothers dated a gorgeous black girl for about three month. It's not a popular decision from either perspective, particularly in the Southern U.S. Although admittedly, I feel like it is slowly becoming more acceptable compared to past times.

I met, and almost had a long term relationship with a nice black girl when I was about 19. She asked me what my parents would think about me dating a black girl, I was honest, I told her they probably wouldn't be thrilled about it. She dumped me.

Blue and Red baseball teams. Blue team could have 10 outs, red team just 2. After a few innings the score was 57 to 2 in favor of the blue team. Then the blue team said for the rest of the innings lets each of us have 3 outs. Now it's equal, let's see who wins.

I wholly agree with the original poster, and am pretty much against positive discrimination too as in most cases it seems to actually support discrimination BY those whom you are intending to help.

But at the same time where can you logically bring it to an end, with the international bog-snorkelling tiddlywink champions over-sixties day ?
There's not enough days in the year and new ones come and go so I'll just celebrate as many as possible and look forward to the best of them all, St.Paddy's day, woohoo ! leprechaun here's to you buddies

Everyone is pro whatever their race happens to be, anyone that says they are not is full of crap.

Black history month is proclaimed by the government, other than that I don't think anyone really gives a rat's behind about. If evreyone needs a day or a month to feel special about themselves, go lobby the government and you shall have one too. Keep in mind if you are the oppressionist color of white it may be a bit tougher.

As for the country belonging to the natives, that may have been true at one point, but not anymore. There were no borders before the country was formed, who's to say who owned what? In fact no one owns the country anymore, the government of the day does. If you want to find out, all you have to do is stop paying your property taxes and you will see how quickly you don't own the land you live on. I guess in the big picture we have all lost the country.
