This idea cropped in to my mind while on Indy's thread.

People, what do you believe or have faith in ?

I know this sounds ambigious. But not everyone here is religious.

So do you believe in God ? If yes, what do you believe about him and his teachings ?
Do you follow any particular religion ? If yes/no why ?
If atheist, what is your belief about the existence of a creator or an energy force ?
If none of these , any personalised beliefs ?

PS: This is NOT to debate or put anyone's faith down .

I believe the god that everyone follows no matter which religion is the same god...I have my own personal beliefs made up of Christian and Native Spirituality and I don't believe in or follow any organized religion!!!!!!!

I am an Atheist.. I don't believe in anything (other than myself) I don't believe in any kind of god.

That also INCLUDES... ghosts.. aliens.. supernatural.. ufos.. after life.. etc.

I don't believe in all that kind of thing either.. although I have full respect for anyone that does (to each his own etc)

I have always been that way.. and am very happy with it the way it is. I don't need a 'faith' or belief.. in anything other than myself.

It's got me this far.. and it it suits me just fine. wine

Its little wonder they're called organized religions. Its what people do to align themselves for a purpose or cause or to fend off another's purpose or cause.

Since I think (not believe) god is man made, (because no actual 'god' is unavailable to us), I think man is as close to any god you can imagine; that would allow wars, hate and religious bias, among the myriad of atroshious crap perpetrated in his name.. and yes the good stuff like love, communication, kindness etc ..

and it's about time he (man) got his shyte together.

I was with right there with you, Claire, and then...whoooaa! Lumping religious beliefs and belief in the supernatural together with the idea of non-terrestrial beings and non-terrestrial space craft? There's nothing supernatural, per hypothesis, about alien beings or technology. And when was the last time Jesus was ever tracked on radar or photographed, etc.?confused wave

Yes I have.. even since I was very small.. I'm a Roman Catholic.. and used to get dragged off to church..

I never believed even back then. My mind has NEVER changed.. altered or faltered on the subject since.

My grandfather was SUPER religious.. and seemed to go to church morning noon and night.. (for 90yrs) was fluent in Latin.. met the Pope and all that.

But it's not for me.

It wasn't forced on me.. (being an Atheist).. my mum was quite religious.. my dad.. a little.

But it went in one ear and out the other with me.. giggle

I do believe in God, and I believe that Jesus is His son. My life experiences has solidified my beliefs and my faith.

I also believe that there are other beings on other planets. Made by God as well. Not unlike us.

I believe that if you really want to go to Heaven, you will gain entry.

I believe that only YOU and GOD knows what is in your heart.

I believe that God gave us free will, and whatever happens down here is because of that. I think that He gave us the ball to run with it.

I believe that God is truly amazed by our progress.

I also believe that we make God sad when bad things happen.

I do not follow any one religion.

I believe that God has an a fun sense of humor, just by watching some animals, or seeing different species of fish, flowers etc...

I believe that God is Love

My mission was accomplished then. Got someone to think grin No one notices it, but that's usually the purpose of my posts...not just to spew my views. professor

a) I would say that I have a very difficult time believing that there was a big bang millions of years ago and from that, here we are~ Even if you accept the "bang" theory, something had to be there prior to the "bang". So, I think there's something greater than ourselves.

I'm feeling more shallow than usual today, so I won't address the "faith" aspects at this time~but may get back on later.

lmao...

nah it was just a 'While we are on the subject of beliefs' .. I don't mean to shove them altogether.

I just mean that I don't (and never have) believed in something I cannot actually SEE and feel for myself.

I'm not knocking people's beliefs in any way shape or form.. I totally understand AND respect everyone has their own views.. and I can see how much religion works from someone people.. As long as people understand I have mine too.

SOME people actually seem to NEED it..

Some of my closest RL friends strongly follow religions.. (various different ones)...

I'm just not someone like that. They know that.. I know that.

But it doesn't stop us wanting to hear each other views and opinions.

It doesn't make us dislike each other any.. or argue and disagree...

We agree to disagree.

ummm, ya rolling on the floor laughing

do we actually have proof of these things? I watched a program on crop circles and while some were totally man made and debunkable, some were very hard to prove as anything but an unknown phenomina.

Thankyou all !!

Respect for anothers faith ( in whatever or whomever ) is rare to gather and quite needed today.

But does an atheist view equate to a belief in science and proofs ?
confused
