This idea cropped in to my mind while on Indy's thread. People, what do you believe or have faith in ? I know this sounds ambigious. But not everyone here is religious. So do you believe in God ? If yes, what do you believe about him and his teachings ? Do you follow any particular religion ? If yes/no why ?
If atheist, what is your belief about the existence of a creator or an energy force ?If none of these , any personalised beliefs ?PS: This is NOT to debate or put anyone's faith down .

I’m so spiritually confused at this point in my life, you could probably tell me what I believe better than I could speak for myself.

I do believe there is a higher power, a “God” if you will. I do not believe he is compassionate. I do not believe he is caring. I do not believe he views us as his children. I do not believe he is just, or kind. I don’t necessarily believe he is evil, or malicious. Maybe just neutral. I think we’re more like ants in his ant farm. He just observes from afar. Or maybe doesn’t observe. He’s ambiguous, unpredictable, and disinterested.

I have difficulty believing in any of the doctrines and dogma of organized religion.

I believe Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, Zoroaster, Confucius, Joseph Smith, and the rest of the gentlemen from the past were real people, but I do not believe any of them were prophets, or in any way more “connected” to God than any other man. Most of them spent a great deal of time in caves, or meditation, or in the company of the underprivileged, so it stands to reason they would be more enlightened individuals.

I think most of the basic values and principles of religion are noble goals, but I also think most of them are simply impossible.

I can’t say as I believe much in karma. If karma were true, then bad things wouldn’t continually happen to good people, and jerks get all the luck.

When we die, I have no clue what happens. There might be a heaven and hell, but that seems too black/white a concept considering people are so complex. I can see no justice in dichotomies.
We might reincarnate. I guess this makes a bit more sense to me. I could go for a theory that says our energy is simply redistributed back out into the world. For all I know, death is just the end, and lying in the dirt or becoming ash is all there is, nothing more. The end.

The older I get, the more I tend to believe in science instead of religion.

Most religious people are hypocrites.

I guess overall, I’d be an apathetic agnostic. I believe there’s “something”, but no way to prove it, and don’t really care anymore because “it” doesn’t care either.

thumbs up

better off praying to your fellow man (at least those you feel close to and maybe others) because you're apt to get some answers from them.

Can we understand God through logic of science? I thought that human minds conceive God in human form because thats how they can relate to but as u said about Genesis, and so is true with Hindu religions that God has human form. Or is it humans that are in form of God? We are the only ones amongst all other forms of life to have higher consciousness Narasimha - Lion Head and Human body is exception. Sphinx. Paradoxes everywhere. How can we define God or The Creator? Our mind and body is human so how can we imagine something that is beyond our imaginations or the concepts of mind?

Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892) is considered by many to be the "Prince of Preachers" during the time when the entire world was making a drift away from God in favor of science. Many Christians vehemently opposed science. Spurgeon wrote in his book Lectures To My Students that everything in creation is from God, and in knowing it, we can learn more of him. Spurgeon made it a point to read 6 books every week in addition to his regular readings of the Bible. He did not limit his knowledege to what he thought other Christians would approve, he wanted to learn about everything. This policy has always impressed me, and I have tried to apply it in my own life.

I do believe that humans are made in God form. Furthermore, I do not think that is limited to what we are shaped like. Later in the book of Genesis 11:6 God says of mankind "...and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them." We have innate abilities as Godlike animals that many of us are unconscious to. I don't believe that our maker is "beyond our imaginations or the concepts of mind", but rather these imaginations, and concepts already exist within us, and we don't even realize it.
