I can't find the other blimmin thread..

For those of you who already know the rest..

A quick update.. her husband called me today to tell me Trish had been taken into hospital with a suspected heart attack.. and that they have postponed starting chemo.

I spoke to her briefly .. she is feeling like 'crap' .. and said that the doctors have told her there is no cure (which we knew).. but that without treatment she may have up to three months.. (remember the lady I said I looked after last summer.. they gave HER 3mths.. she lasted 5wks)

Anyway... they've said with treatment.. if it goes as well as it can.. then she could have up to 12mths left.

I sent her the complete set of Seinfeld to keep her busy.. (she loves that).. she text me.. saying 'OMG are you mad! that's $230!'

I said.. 'You ALWAYS knew I was mad you silly moo'


Anywayyy.. I'm planning to go and see her in a few weeks when I go to meet Mr McMaybe.



She was giving me some advice on painting my nails.. (and men) haha

Then she said.. 'What are you going to dooo without me Claire?'


I said.. 'I don't know'

It's good that you are going to see her... (and "Mr McMaybe"- Silly girl you! ). You are a true and wonderful friend.

She has a very funny 'calm' brewing. She has been getting everything in 'order' just in case.

She said she had binned all the things she didn't want her husband to find out about.. eg: Uber power vibrator.

and she has started making lists.

She says she has spoken to the doctors and her family about NOT being resuscitated..

I said.. 'But why not?'

She said.. 'Look.. I've got liver cancer.. I have enough problems with that, the last thing I need is a frickin heart condition too !'

fair enough.

Then she said something about not wanting to be lying there on a ventilator having to listen to me rattling on to her about Mr McMaybe.. and being unable to tell me to SHUT THE HELL UP!...





I'm not laughing really...

I'm stunned... and heartbroken

Noo, I know you're not really laughing. Although I think us laughing when things are bad is just another way of letting our emotions out and if we didn't laugh then we'd be crying.

Sounds as if she's going into the acceptance mode then now. Think first one is denial then is it acceptance. can't really remember exactly now.

I can understand her not wanting to be resuscitated too.

Is she going to have the treatment and try and live longer than the 3 months with no treatment? Not sure which choice I would make if it were me in that situation to be honest.

It'll be sad when you go to see her in a few weeks too but you'll be strong

Ah, shit, Claire...that sucks. Except for the part about sending her the Seinfeld: that rules! I wish your friend the very best, sweetie.

She hasn't decided whether she wants the treatment or not yet.. she is going to wait and see what the first few chemos are like for her, and decide then.

They have just given her the chemo tablets to start taking.. but she needs to do the hospital/injection part yet.

you are right about the laughing.. if we didn't laugh we wouldn't stop crying.

It was such 'forced' humour today from both of us.. (we ALWAYS laugh!)... But today you could hear it wasn't real from either of us. It was very strange really.

Someone emailed me the other day .. and was telling me that they had been in a similar situation.. and that they did this too.. until they both just gave in and bawled their eyes out together.

So I think perhaps we till just get around to that in a few weeks when I see her.

..YET I know for fact that not always are they correct,
but in the meantime create memories,laugh plenty,cry some and take many a pictures,ask a lot of question,and live in the moment.
