MY PARENTS raised me and took care of me,and now that they're getting older,it's my job to be there for them and take care of them when they need me.

FAMILY FIRST....for me.

I think family traditions have fallen by the wayside in much of Western culture Pearl. Probably, and sadly in my opinion, families only get together for births, deaths and funerals because they are often scattered far and wide these days.

Here in Spain though family traditions are still very strong, elderly relatives remain part of and live within the family unit, they are seldom farmed off to rest homes.

Being independent is our ongoing family tradition because we are all adults.

my family gets together alot...

July 4th, we have a get together at a park with a bbq and then go the firework shows in the night.

memorial day we all go together take flowers to our passed loved ones and celebrate them with a favorite meal and rememberance time.

christmas eve my siblings and the kids all spend the night at my parents, go to candle light service at night and we all sleep in the same room like when we were lil, but now instead of 3 of us it's with our kids too. we bring out air mattress and all 10 share the room and laugh at the kids since they cant sleep cuz of christmas morning...anticipation...

birthdays are never missed, always have some sort of party...same for graduations...

i'm lucky for the family i have, even tho it can be hard at times....

No traditions in our family except maybe on Christmas we all gather in the same house, avoid the ones we don't like, and put on a happy face for the ones we do like.
We never get together for any other holidays, birthdays, etc...
Nothing passed down from one generation to the next.
No strong bonds or ties.
Just individuals floating along in the wind, occassionally passing each other.

My kids and I have two: Everynight before they go to bed we have family prayer time and every sunday after church we either go out to a nice restuarant for lunch/dinner or we go see a movie (if a good one is playing) teddy bear
