I kinda know what you mean, when it comes to meeting people. I had a whirlwind romance on here about a year ago, and it was so great! Lots of phone calls, IM's, nice little letters and all that. Even when we met, it was a great time. However, real life tends to get in the way of romance, and there was really no way to continue going on like we had been. It was an awesome time, and I made a great friend who I still talk to even today. I'd just not get my hopes up so much next time. I'm much more of a realist these days...grin

You should try again . This time have the guy travel by plane or boat . And like the other writer said , make it soon after you decide you want to meet . This way you don't have that fantasy of the perfect match in your mind lingering over many months . Get the visit out of the way and if there is no chemistry..................move on to the next . Life is way to short to give up on a chance at love .

From that esperience of mine I would say meet as soon as possible so that what builds up is real!

I prefer to try and meet quickly too to find out if there's a connection in reality....but I find it hard to get a guy to agree to that.

I agree, hope is always a good thing to have, I don't think you can live without it, what would be the point? dunno

Unrealistic expectations of another is what dooms most relationships, online and irl.

well, only the real world has worked for me. cos i'm a normal guy, there's too many wierdo's on these sites that start sending cock-shots and other various pure stupid things to women here so that when a normal guy comes along, he has no chance. unless you walk on eggshells around a bird, she'll automatically assume you are one of "those" and just not reply, end conversation, or in some cases, even block you. load of bollocks in my opinion. and i've been here a year and a half.

Just read your profile (some of it) and it says you're separated.

There you go!

You're welcome.

So met this guy a couple of months ago on this site actually. We talked by phone, and IM for a couple of months. Sent pics back and forth, webcammed and all that good stuff. We seemed to really hit it off. All our free moments were spent talking to eachother in one way or another. So I decided to go to visit him.....
It was very dissapointing. All the chemistry we had was gone. This was my first time meeting someone who I had to get on a plane for. What the hell happened?

Hey I know Irish women. And in particular, some, not all, but some girls on Cs. They are paranoid. Not sure what kind of opener they expect but it doesn;t matter. At this stage i have tried every opening line you can think of. I rarely get a reply.

How about trying no lines and just being yourself ?
