Because as long as someone will pay attention, someone will act up to get it.
I've known quite a few people who've been on that show, seen their little escapades & been ashamed to know them afterwards.
Total crap.

For the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would subject themselves to such incredibly low class, disgusting "entertainment" as Jerry Springer and if people are low enough to enjoy or be a part of it then I'm sure stopping the fights would just piss them off, it's probably a big reason they watch.

frustrated Trying to explain to people in Europe that all Americans aren't like that can get a bit trying sometimes!laugh

It is normal behaviour to the people who appear on the show.
I mean, why else would they.

Actually, many of the guests are not like that in real life.
They do however, know how to play it up for the camera. It becomes a big game.
It's mostly an act like wrestling. Many of them are trailer trash but some are just having a poke at the whole Jerry Springer popularity. They get home & call all their friends, tell them "watch me I'm on TV".
I was floored to see 3 people I had worked with on JS, pretending to be in a love triangle. First they b*tched, they they fought & then they pretended to all fall for each other. As long as the audience cheers & boos, it's aired & the producers love it.
Utter garbage, but they obviously had a good laugh at it ... not to mention a free holiday with hotel.
No one gets paid to go on but they do get accommodations, including meals.

That's enough for some to make fools of themselves on national tv.
dunno

Ah, good to have that confirmed, that is exactly how I thought it worked, just like a wrestling match.

I rarely watch it but caught an episode when we were all in Dublin and the women in the audience were getting paid plastic beads to flash their boobies D'oh!

I have to agree with you there.
It's a retarded merry go round of fools, trying desperately to get the world to acknowledge their 15 mins of "fame".
*uurppp... I think I just threw up a little...

Now, that's a very popular spin off of what people think aspects of Mardi Gras are all about.
Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") is the day before Ash Wednesday & supposed to be the final day of Carnival. When one conjures up images of Carnival, topless women are in the mix... it can be accrediated to culturally comfortable areas like Rio de Janeiro.
Tourists have created this idea of cheap thrills (like in New Orleans and other places that have Mardi Gras parades) to include nudie flashes for the common beads. It's basically more examples of attention starved behavior, often brought on by drinking. The beads for boobs concept has now officially become a phenomena.
...and to hear of it making the overseas transition by way of Springer.
sigh

I think its great on the beach or whatever but to cheapen your body for plastic beads - nah - but I guess Im just being judgmental - to each their own I guess sigh
