Definitely cremated and scattered in the sea for me

I would be claustrophobic buried in a box 6 feet under.

Also, knowing my luck I'd come back to life and end up suffocating to death whilst I was being devoured by hungry worms

One of my favorite lies in any movie is a line out of The Outlaw Josey Wales, where Clint Eastwood (Josey) says "buzzards gotta eat, same as a worm"

Seriously though there is a company who will transport your cremated remains high into the atmosphere then scatter them with an exploding shell like fireworks, if you are into that........one last hurrah

I heard that theres a guy, in Georgia I think, that will just just wheel you out and leave you in his backyard with the 300 other corpses he has out there...... anyone know what ever happened to him?

A thought just occured to me, that in the event someone met their demise in a forum such as this, that a thread could actually be utilized to conduct a cyber funeral, in saying goodbye to a cyber friend.......

I can see where people would want to visit, but I also see the cremation side of things.

My mother was cremated three months ago - my father, when that time comes, has expressed the same wish.

I have received instructions on where to scatter both their ashes. Acting upon their wish is more important to me than a burial site.

Robert, my mothers wish was to be cremated and have her ashes buried at the foot of her mothers grave. Thats what we did. We have a lovely stone marker covering the spot where her ashes were buried. So she was cremated and I have a place to go and visit and take flowers. Kind of the best of both worlds I think. If I never marry again, I kind of like the idea of doing the same, but having my ashes buried next to my mothers. We were both extremely close to our mothers.

My nephews ashes will one day be spread in a wooded area near where he was born in Washington state. They curently live in Alabama, but I thought this was also a lovely idea. Only his parents and sisters will be there.

I'm dedicating my body to science, so there really won't be anything left to do anything with.

I would like a headstone in the graveyard with my family though so my son has somewhere to "visit me".

Actually, I was told that the body is eventually returned to the family for disposal when the scientific community is finsihed with their research. Man, that is really hard to put that in any kind of delicate manner. I'm sorry.

I too have donated my body to science. The organs that are useable will be harvested and the rest of me goes wherever. then in about 18 months they return my remains cremated to my son who has instructions what to do. A small marker will be errected in my family cemetary indicating where I was disposed and that I loved them all. This will be free of charge except for the marker and no great expense incurred by my son. 25 years ago it financially devistated me to bury his father and I won't have that for my son.
