Have you seen The Vagina Monologue? How was it? What can you tell me about it. Would you go see it? My boss is sponsoring a performance at Foxwoods and I'm going to be in it. I'm just looking for some advice and any words of wisdom. And, of course, I hope everyone who can, will come see it. It's to raise money for a good cause and tickets are available on the resort web site.

You'll love it; you may feel a bit embarrassed while watching and especially listening to the monologues, but you'll love it; never met a woman that didn't .
I've seen it, read the book and was given the DVD set. It is HILARIOUS as well as so true.
It opens the window on the last forbidden zone; it is a celebration of female sexuality in all its mystery and complexity that any man should appreciate for not only himself but for the women in his life where intimacy and love go hand in hand.
It has universally inspired a V DAY the world over much to the consternation of the male neanderthals still parading around with their delusions that their penises are the world symbol of power over women- all women.
The first performance I was lucky enough to get tickets for was by Eve Ensler herself who wrote it. Some found it crude and offensive but no one that I've met that has seen it, be it on screen or on stage could deny the the truth of it all; it is as the author wanted: to reveal fully to women's deepest fantasies and fears and that no one who hears or sees it will ever look at a woman's body or think of sex, in quite the same way again to the relief of women everywhere...a whole new perspective of women for males in which to really appreciate the woman's perspective. You should have a ball,(no pun intended!) in being part of this "liberation of anxieties"! %D Have fun!

It is also, very much against violence toward women...which is one of the main points within the monologues; seems I overlooked to mention it...

I tried to watch The Vagina Monologues, but I couldn’t endure it long enough to even get halfway through.
I felt a lot of the substance was better suited for private conversation rather than the public stage.
I also believe a lot of the issues addressed were drown by the method of presentation. “In your face” tactics like this, rarely work to get across an important point to those who need to hear it. When people choose to use a great deal of obscenity and shock value, they put the focus on themselves instead of their words. The message is overridden by the messenger.
Those who enjoy this type of presentation are already aware of the point.
It becomes a classic case of preaching to the choir.

If you want a good laugh email Victoria Beckham (AKA Posh Spice) if she thinks its even remotely fashionable she will be annunciating everywhere she will be heard about it.

Mind you on first reading she might think its a cosmetic procedure below her waist, in which case she will be straight to the nearest fashionable surgeon to have it done immediately.

Thank god she's not here any more, i got fed up confusing her with a stick of celery.laugh

You're right on this! The first time I went, it was a total surprise to a few of us and we left, several other women also left all flustered; when invited to see it again, I read it all the way through and then I knew what to expect . It was much better the second and third time...yes, third time I couldn't resist taking someone that I thought would appreciate the messages. She loved it so much she appeared in a German version in a small theatre...ya never know...%D
