Thanks for all the comments. I have my script and we had our first rehearsal yesterday. I am doing "Hair" and it's so funny because it hits home - one of my x-husbands did want me to shave down there and I found it not to be a good experience. He also didn't stop fooling around even after I did shave (not totally but into a nice heart shape). Many parts of this play do hit home with women and men and although the dialogue may be very personal in nature, you have to get over your embarassment and listen to the actuality of it.
As for tissues, the part about a woman being raped with a gun in Bosnia is very moving and will bring you to tears for these things women have had to endure. Then again, you may need the tissues again when you laugh so hard you cry during at least two of the scenes.
Come on all you New Yorkers and New Englanders, make that trip to Foxwoods on March 8th and support me in this wonderful show. The good cause is that the money will go to support the local Women's Shelter to help abused women.
