How warm is it where you are?
Not very, i suspect.

New figures from the US National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Administration show that
ice levels have returned back to thier original
levels.
In fact Antartica has a third more ice than is
usual for the time of year.
Also, the nothern hemisphere, experiencing
its coldest winter in decades has had its
greatest snow cover since 1966.
Even the Middle East saw snow reporting the
heaviest falls in years.
I wonder what Al Gore has to say about this.grin

global warming/cooling is a natural phenomenon. happens regularly whether there are co2 emissions or not. i'm inclined to think the whole carbon emission thing is a bit of a red herring. however, i don't see any harm in reducing pollution as long as the powers that be don't go ripping us off and lying to us. jmo.

to be honest, it has been unusually warm in aberdeen over the last week or so. i even had the kids out playing at the park and sat there in a t-shirt having a picnic with them. VERY unusual for this time of year. the evenings have been getting pretty frosty though.

Actually it is unusually warm here in Brno. But winter has returned to Russia after an unusually warm winter and it was snowing in Athens, Greece. Unusual I would say. conversing

Kansas had an extremely harsh winter with a major ice storm according to my Sister, so who knows. To me it still boils down to dollars and sense. It makes sense to look for alternatives to oil, natural gas, etc if its cheaper and I can live better.wave If I can cut down on my electric bill reasonably, I will do it.

I am sure that I am not the only one in this big beautiful world that believes global warming is just a message to the human population to get our act together and quit destroying the earth.
Earth will survive even if it has to get rid of us to do it.

Hiya Bodeling wave

I know this is meant to be a light thread... so apologies in advance grin

My view on Global Warming is this..

It is not in dispute that we are abusing our planet
It is not in dispute that there are alot more toxic emissions being dispersed into the atmosphere, as a consequence of mass industrialisation, which were previous unknown to Earths atmosphere... It seems logical to me that this cannot be without consequence so previous arguments that this is 'just a cyclical thing' seem weak to me... there are very powerful vested interests in the US and Super Corporations who would prefer that this whole issue went away, so it doesn't surprise me now that there are 'newspaper' articles spewing up this stuff...

I think even if it is all a heap of crap... do we want to find out the hard way?.... i.e. reach the brink of disaster and the point of no return and then go 'ooops I should have listened to Al Gore'..I think not grin

Plus the added economic and other benefits make it still worth our while... i.e. cleaner/healthier environment...and less economic reliance on oil producing countries.... the OPEC countries have us caught by the short and curlies... they could switch on global recession at the touch of a button if they wished at the moment.. the development of alternative energy sources would hinder this power..... I say bring it on!!!! peace

cheers

I read a blog earlier today that said that Solar Panels replacing the use of fossil fuel would add to the global warming of the earth do to the Panels absorbing the heat higher than the natural earth would. Sorry, with the internet today, any one can claim any thing on either side and it is instantly broadcast as news.

But there was a good point made. Independent of global warming, hype, etc. The USA and Europe are held captive by oil producing countries. Central and Eastern Europe celebrated getting rid of Russian control so that 18 years later the EU can be abiding by what ever Putin says, otherwise the Russians will shut off their oil and natural gas. The US is involved in the Middle East do to oil, it provides money to terrorists. So I would prefer a little independence please, and if it cleans up the air a little. Then life is better.conversing handshake
