Well you can tell somethings about a person by the pictures they choose to post, how they choose to portray themselves, their surroundings, items in the picture... all little things that give you clues about the person. I sent a message to a guy because I loved his smile, and he looked a little goofy in the picture so I knew he didn't take himself too seriously, my first impression was right and we're still talking and hopefully meeting soon. Also it's just nice to put a face to a personality...

I agree with jbibiza ... you can tell if they are neat/messy, well groomed, and many times bits and pieces of their personality.

Don't forget - "one picture is worth a thousand words"grin

Bill,
I was talking with a gf today (just a friend) and she did on-line dating so much, after one or two e-mails, she'd say let's meet. If it didn't work out, spark or whatever, move on. No harm no foul. I think it's the same with guys as it is for woman. If I didn't see a picture, I wouldn't bother to think 'why she didn't put one up.' Just move on. Attraction has to be there--it's just the way it is. JMO.
Good luck.

I think, of course there has to be an attraction. And I agree with most of what was said. But from the other point of view.. I didnt want to put up my pic, but the 1st thing in any reply I have ever got is to send a pic first. I would like if they would of got to know me without being hung up on it. So at least on other sites, its not just us women who need a pic first :)

If you truly are ready to date and meet people, you need to put your self out there entirely.

We often suspect that men without pics are married.

Easy solution...post a pic.

Though that doesn't work very often either.

Odd question - don't men want to see us? If you're doing this to meet someone for romantic reasons, then the answer seems obvious and the question seems naive.

If we are not afraid to show ours, then why should most men hide theirs? sorry no pic, no contact! that's one of the golden rules of online "dating, getting to know someone"

thumbs up Good answer Kirsten. Don't remember seeing you before, welcome to the funny farm. You'll find out soon enough, if you haven't already, why we call it that! grin hug

I need a picture, I can tell if it's fake or not.. if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. I also like guys with a lot of pics of themselves, as even more proof they are who they say they are, or webcam... It's a cautious thing.
I thought it's kind of narcissistic to have to many self pics ...
I'd go with different body parts but I can't display my large qualities due to conservative nature of this site. sticking out tongue
