How long do you have to take it for? are there any side effects?

and.. when you stop taking it.. do you want to smoke again?

Have a look on the Pfeizer website, do a search on the nam e and you will get all the info.
Adverse reaction, you throw up if you smoke a lot during the time you take the pill, since there are no receptors to recognize the nicotine, is considered a poison and the body is reacting.
You will slow down smoking, the need cease also. I took it for the whole month just in case and taken the pill early morning, on empty stomach.
Nope, don't feel the need, don't like the smell of smoke any more.
It's a mental craving that i have, the need of holding a cyg...but you fight that off easy.
I will never go back on smoking.

I meant to mention the biggest side effect of Chantrix can be suicide, Not everyone should try it. Cold Turkey would be the safest in my opinion.

I know there was a lot in the press here about Zyban and suicide and depression...

I know I watched my ALWAYS positive cheery friend.. go RIGHT down to the pits of despair when he was taking Zyban.. I had to talk to him A LOT about it.. re reminding him it was the medication making him feel that way not HIM.

It reeeaaally put me off them..

He DID stop smoking.. (and still .. 3-4yrs later)..

and he did stop feeling that way when he was off the meds.

Good luck to you paws. I quit the nasty when I bought a new car, did not want it to reek of nicotine, and then they banned smoking in the work place, now if someone walks by me that smokes, I can smell it so strongly in their hair and clothes, especially on their breath. You can do it, do not let a non-nutritional cancerous thing control you.angel My prayer will be for you tonight.

[quote=Xtabentun]Quick and easy......Champix works by specifically targeting nicotinic receptors in the brain to reduce craving, and no other treatment works this way; it's produced by Pfeizer, have a look at the website.
I stopped smoking in less than one week.
At least look at the option before you say no.
Good luck![/quote

That's what Zyban/Wellbutin does as well, targets the nicotine receptors. I tried quitting using Zyban and it was a horrible experience. NEVER AGAIN!!!
I described what was going on and how I was feeling to a female friend who was also thinking of giving up smoking and she said the symptoms sound just like menopause!laugh Moody, emotional, hot flashes followed by freezing, sleeplessness, irritable, depression and a few more I can't describe.crying
Needless to say I stopped taking it before someone got hurt!laugh

Is Chantix a derivative of an anti-depressant as well?dunno

I need to quit and stay quit. Getting tired of this stupid habit and cold turkey seems to work for a few days and.......

I do know of one, but you are too far away, It would help me quit, having something else to do. But that too could be highly addictive, but at least much better on the health.laugh

Nope, Zyban was an antidepressant that by accident got used in the treatment of smoking addiction; it contains Bupropion Hydrocloryde; part of the antidepressive active ingredients;

Champix is Varenicline tartrate, that works in two ways. Firstly, it reduces the smoker's craving for nicotine by binding to nicotine receptors in the brain and reduces the symptoms of withdrawal. Secondly, it reduces the satisfaction a smoker receives when smoking a cigarette.

Side effects - vomiting was one of them in my case, in thne first two days, then it stopped. My father didn't even feel a thing, was making fun of me for warning him; and he did quitt too.

help

After knowing several women including my mother who went through menopause, I've come to the conclusion it's safer for the male of the species to hide in the garage during this change in life. That or play with hungry grizzly bears and hope for the best.laugh
