Were you even alive during the Carter years? We had all that then even worse. For that matter, I was no better off financially during the Clinton years, but that was just my personal situation. We are each responsible for our own well-being, not the government.

I really like Obama personally, I'd rather see him in office than Hillary. That we really can't afford!

[b][Does anyone remember that the president is the "commander in cheif of the worlds most powerdul militiaty force?/b]

speack of Obama or hillary in any pleasant tone yiu choose. dispite my own personnal desire for change I' am still yet to be convinced how one who has "NO" military experience can homnestly do justice in this position without any proir experince ... Example current president who flew missiopns over the Texas border.... wait... the plan to invade Iraq HISTORICAL PROOF was/is a prime example.

ask yourself why the democrats chose not to have a choice on the ballots in primary that had military/combet experience??? this question most of all really confuses me.

hmmm I don't think that you have to have military experience to be President..Bush not having any military experience is not why he invaded Iraq...he invaded it for personal gain for himself and his "friends".

the truth is...color can't be left out of this election...because most blacks are voting for him...not for his qualifications..but because he is black. Sorry Des...although you would like to brand me a racist...it is simply not true!! My choice for president is and always has been Colin Powell.

If you read my post with an open mind, you will see that O'Bama ignores his white heritage and only clings to his "black" heritage. THAT is racism, Des.

If elected, he will not be the first Black president....he will be the first bi-racial president. But he chooses to ignore that! THAT is racism.

If O'Bama were all white, with his qualifications, he wouldn't even be a second thought. He has no qualifications for the office, no foreign experience, hasn't authored any major legislation.

He is young, good looking and black. He has nothing else to offer. Do you not think it strange, that every black is voting for O'Bama, and yet you say ignore the color issue!! His whole candidacy is a color issue

I know I do not know much about this but why is Hillary not a good choice. She knows what being president is about and she does have her husband to give her advice.dunno

Around here, most of the blacks I've talked to were for Hillary. Now that Obama's leading they're jumping on the bandwagon, but they sure weren't at first. It's not a color issue, it's politics. Who can do the most for me seems to be most people's attitude.

of course...we all have different opinions! But to deny that color is not an issue in this election is to be blind. It is an issue for both blacks and whites!!

But no one wants to discuss it, for fear of being called a racist! I agree that it should not be an issue...but in a perfect world, it wouldn't. Truth is...there are just as many people voting for him because he is black as there are voting against him for the same reason!!

That's fact! That's real! Get used to it!!

Ah, but we can only change the world by changing ourselves first. One person at a time, and attitudes are changing. Yes, there are those for whom it is an issue, but it doesn't have to be for ourselves.

there are enough racist in America that will not vote for O'Bama. Since he is the most likely democratic nominee, The same mentality that put Bush in will put McCain in. Well Ship, don't let the door knob hit ya' where the good Lord split ya'! And say hello to Frosty for me... sticking out tongue

Just kidding! (Mostly.)

Politics aside and regardless of my own personal views and who may or may not agree with them - I honestly don't know whether to admire your personal fortitude or to feel disappointment in someone who would so readily give up on the U.S.A. I mean, there are a lot of things I don't agree with regarding our government and political system, but the only way I'd ever permanently leave this country is... Well, there just isn't anything that could make me consider leaving.

Dammit, I'm sorry, but I LOVE THE U.S.A.! I'm an American and damned proud of it and feel damned fortunate to be one and I don't give two sh*ts who is in the Whitehouse, that ain't gonna' change! When someone asks if I'm a Republican or a Democrat, I reply that I'm an American and that gives me the right to be a little of both.

Please excuse my rant - If you were kidding about moving to Canada, then you have my apologies, but at the same time I can't help but remember something my Dad once told me; "Don't let your mouth write checks that your @ss can't cash." If you're not kidding, then I can only repeat what someone else far wiser than I once said; "If you start making plans about what to do if you lose, then you've already lost."

It ain't perfect here, but I, for one believe it comes closer than any place else I've ever been and I'm not ready to abandon ship just because of a few leaks... Nope, I think instead that I'm gonna' see what I can do to help patch 'em up...

I agree with you Ship. He is even using Martin Luther King's sayings "I have a Dream" during his political debates.
