Know it is actually funny to think about some of the stupid use of past..
Sad thing is.. A lot of people really are that bad.

Is like the song.. Things that make you go Hmmm..
Yea I'm a virgin.. why you guys always ask me that?!

Yes they really are those who actually do thatconversing
I wonder if they think the competition is supposed to be a turn on???dunno

But to each thier own... i know what i like and what i offer... and hope i never make the mistake of saying that i learned or taught it to anyone... Just that i like it or don't like itgrin

as far as the rest of the issues... sometimes when the other knows you where married it is difficult to say anything without them thinking you are comparing... when all you are doing is saying "i have been here before ... and this is what happened"... and i do not wish to have it happen again. or i really want it to happen again.thumbs up

Good thread by the way... and i know you may deny it... but it is yours and it is a good onelaugh wave

I have to be honest. there are some things in the past that won't affect the realtionship that I would rather they NOT share with me.
I think there can be Too much info at times..

We all do a LOT of stupid things that we wish we hadn't. Especially when real young.

However,,, If a relationship starts to get serious, I have this discussion with her.

I don't need to know exactly how many partners you have had,
I do want to know the things that directly will/can affect the realtionship, I want to know things from the past that have hurt you, so I will know not to repeat it and for understanding, and so on...

but past is past and not everything needs to be said.
The future is whats important and knowing that this is a person that has actually learned from the past and improved.
And not just someone that still continues the bad ways from the past.

Sorry if that is clear as mud?!

the bare minimum. like how many relationships they've had, how long they've lasted, any kids to speak of....i don't want a bunch of kids suddenly turning up at dinner and calling me 'mom'....other than that, the less the better!

No don't want to know all the dirty details. Most of the past has nothing to do with your relationship. Only want to know the important things like pertaining to children.

Sounds right. Things come out through time. Less is more.

Well Ras,I really think we need to know,in a relationship once where the details were not revealed, didn't like that, though perhaps i should've known better because of her tendency to always speak in run-on sentences, thanks!handshake wink wave

I don't think people should casually refer to things in their past, like my ex always..., or he used to..., but I do think sharing stories in the right time and place is important and can be fun. Curled up on the couch together exchanging stories... the worst fight I ever had... the best relationship and why... when I was a kid... I think it's a really good way of getting to know a person and gives you an insight to some of their personality traits. There's nothing I hide, but I don't shove it down their throat either.

True, as I stated earlier, Some things I will ask if I need/want to know.. but if its something that bothers me I will also say that I would rather not talk about it.

cheers
