Went on a date last nite. It started to be a nice evening. Saw an early movie and went for a nice meal with the plan of dancing after.
But at some point the nice conversation turned into her time to rant. 45 minutes of all the jerks in her past and how sorry all men are and then came the statement. Why can't I find a man to make me happy! And there it was...... her problem!

I've found in my time on this Earth a few facts you can't change. Like... no one can make you happy! Happiness is a state of mind that comes from within. And until you find that in yourself you won't be happy! Some will never be happy because they can't get out of there on way. And if you look to me for your happiness, it aint happening sister.

Needless to say but I told her at the end of our meal it wasn't going to work, thanked her for her time and took her home. But now I'm the jerk. What do you all think, are my actions wrong?

Your're actions were correct. She has to get over the bullshit unless you ask her directly about it. But maybe it will work out for you in the future.

There's nothing that makes you feel like nothing when the girl you're with goes on and on about her ex.

You did the right thing. Dont' feel guilty. This is something she has to work out.

Well, I tried to be nice. Just told her I felt we were just not on the same page and I didn't want to let her think otherwise. And all hell broke loose.

Ok, kudos to you! I've been in the same situation in the past and had to say pretty much the same thing. It's never fun, but sometimes you've gotta' do it. (Thank GOD I'll never have to worry about it again!)

I did have one gal call me a 'prick' and I explained to her that I wasn't the prick - it was all the other guys - I was being polite and honest. (Thank GOD I'll never have to worry about it again! - Just can't say that enough.. )
