How many of you men have ever really had a woman who loved you?

Flower of the Snow, thanks for that eloquent response. When I said "no matter what," that was a poor choice of words. I should have said through "good times as well as bad" or "through thick and thin."

Thanks for your thoughts, though. I agree with you that nobody should let someone just use them or take them for granted.

I understand, Vonney. You've obviously been mistreated too.

Star98cu, that's the kind of thing I was thinking about when I wrote this thread.

There's no such thing as a perfect relationship, but there is such a thing a sticking together through thick and thin. It's okay to argue. In fact, if you don't argue sometimes, something's probably wrong.

Star, you understood what I was talking about when I started this thread. Thanks for sharing your story, and I hope you find the one you're looking for.

Star, it really freaks people out when I tell them I fear death, even though I'm an atheist. I think everyone fears death. It's instinctive.

However, you've looked into death's face, which I think gave you a better appreciation of the situation you were in and a better appreciation of life.

If people weren't aware that their time is limited, they wouldn't care about anything. They wouldn't be motivated to accomplish anything.

By the way, Star, I'm obsessively analytical, often to my own detriment, so I know what too much self-analysis can do to you to.

Good luck to you in all things.

Zeloniy, my parents were together for 67 years, and I can tell you that they truly loved each other. In today's society this kind of thing is looked at completely differently. The last few generations have been raised on what makes them feel good for the moment instead of in the long run. That was, and remains, my problem.

Skeptikos:

It is one thing to over-analize everything in your life "out there" : It is an entirely different thing to look within yourself for your own meanings and answers.

One is mental dung: the other is the golden essence of your life itself and sadly, the essence of what for most, is their greatest fears---the TRUTH ABOUT THEMSELF.

Sorry, it not about judgement, and, I don't see a great deal of the latter on this forum . . . y'know.

Really makes folks nervous when anyone goes there.
