Obviously, this question is directed to those over 50, but all can jump in. I'd say definitely more! Aging gracefully depends a lot on one's emotional, physical, mental and spiritual health. Having a healthy, active sex life contributes greatly, to all of that. At any age, sex without emotional attachment is empty. Sadly enough, some seniors are having sex just for sex, and that then becomes foolish sex, and I don't consider that to be healthy. But in a caring, perhaps loving relationship, I think sex is very important as we age.heart beating

I'm not sure why this is "obviously" for those over 50. I'm over 40 though and sex is more important than when I was younger. I think I've hit that age where women have a stronger libido. grin

dcj; I said obviously over 50 because I just assume that 40 is still considered young. But, since we all age everyday, I should not have put an age on it. You're right. applause Actually 50-60 is still young, (to me) but sometimes that's the age at which libido seems to diminish for some.

O.K. this is where I get serious....and I hate SERIOUS!!!

BUT...

regarding things of the flesh...I believe there are three ways to express one's self!!

1) F*kking....when you just want to get off and really that is you only concern..........not saying it's healthy...but real!!

2) having sex...where two people just enjoy each others bodies and is mutually agreeable, sometimes with NSA. They both get off and no one is the worse for it

3) making love...the coming together of two people wanting to be as close to each other as is physically possible...and you could care less about getting off

That how I see things...anyone of the three could become more important in later years. Just know what it is you are after!!

O.K. that's all the seriousness I can handle for one day!!!

DITTO! And from what I experienced and know others as well, it is NOT "the seniors" that are just having sex for the sake of having sex, but the exact opposite; always has been, will always be. Don't worry about those so called "seniors"; worry about perhaps the declining age of beginning a sex life, starting as young as 12 or even younger!(And having babies!)

Hmmm...how can I address delicately??
Seniors having sex just for sex???? Well, this isn't limited to seniors, of course, and what it boils down to is that people of all ages will sometimes have sex just for sex, but this doesn't necessarily mean that they are without morality or are sleezes or something. Sex is a human need (for most of us, anyway) and are we supposed to simply hang up the mattress and remain endlessly celibate just because we haven't found that loving relationship that we wish for?
Here's the simple truth of the matter.... I haven't been in love for a number of years. But I have had sex and hope to continue to do so, when I choose to and with whom I choose to. Not frivolous f***ing with any man that looks my way, but not with someone that I love, either. I'm not in love. But I am a healthy woman (53 years old...a senior??? EEK!) and I won't spend the rest of my days reminiscing about the good old days. Wasn't it Billy Joel who said "These ARE the good old days"? I hope to love again. I hope to enjoy all the beauty of lovemaking with one special person again. If that is not in the cards for me, am I supposed to deny my sexuality and take up crochet or something? Not me. Not this woman.
You will be my age one day. You'll understand.

Admit it...when you were younger, you didn't know how to really HAVE sex! Now that we're all older, We know SO many more ways to do things!!

So, yes, Sex is more important and WAY better than it was in youth...

But who am I to say, since I'm not getting any anyway....HAHAHA

You said it perfectly! While I still have hope that I will meet that special man, I also acknowledge the fact that I may well spend the rest of my life alone... does that mean I shouldn't have sex again? Not a chance!

Hiya jb and Morgan, I knew I would find you here.

Well I wouldnt necessarily say that sex is more important but it certainly is more enjoyable..and that is because of my age and experience, knowing what I like or dont like.

Sex is important at any age...(once legal of course).

It keeps you young, alive, supple and happy....

Don't know that age should be a barrier or constraint to a healthy sex life..

yay hug applause
