I remember reading a National Lampoon article in my twenties about the pitfalls of sex as one gets older. I think it said something along the lines of by the time a guy's in his thirties it's like a young man wearing a condom, when he's forty it's like wearing a sock, fifty like wearing a sock enclosed in a plastic bag, sixty like wearing three lambskin gloves and and a potholder, etc.

I don't know about lambskin gloves - never actually worn one - but my experience with a condom is that it's approximately equivalent to wearing a sock. I think I'd personally lean somewhere between 4 and 5 on the above scale. (And for the record, I haven't noticed any diminishment of sensitivity.)
