anywhere anymore. I don't think so...
This may be why I refuse to watch the news every single night anymore.
All this hate, all the violence... and I live in a ghetto.
In the past 24 hrs(week ends) I have heard at least 6 different sets of gunfire to what sounds like 4-6 blocks from my house. Last month, a man was shot & killed on the next block over... I even got the car/driver description. No one else even seemed to flinch while they were sitting on their porches, cracking a cool 40oz. They're numb to it.
Part of the violence issue is complacency. People are so deeply split over gun issues, no one wants to juggle that basket of bees for fear of pissing of gun owners!
When kids can buy a fully automatic handgun(but not pay for a baby), something is wrong.
Too many people are turning their heads. Regardless of how to handle the situation, we're(in the US) all stuck being the moving targets between pissy mental shooters & their bullet's final destination. When it reaches the point where one has to ask.."which school this time?" or "how far was that from my house?", it's gone too far.
Being proactive is what gets things accomplished... and in this case, shot.
It's a loose loose situation & now cleaning up is hindered by the sheer fact that every single shooting now makes national news & internet awareness. Oooh goody.
*gee thanks news media... you did such a great job making every friggin' body have to watch this crap over & over again(like in Columbine)... now what are you going to do to help stop it?
Seriously, Carebear I'm with you.
Pack your bags, lets build a raft if we have to.
Europe is calling.
(before the influence of the US gun situation taints other countries any further)
Don't get me wrong, now people. I grew up around weapons. I respect them, that's how I was taught.
I have a sniper's eye when shooting at 200 yrds & the PPK Walther .38 is my gun of choice. (go Bond)
I was raised well to respect the dangers of gun use... that's the difference.
Who raised all these little madhatter gun wielding wackos?
I mean, I know stress is beyond insane in the US, but really now... no one sees little Japanese business men lopping the local sushi bar waitress's head with a .45 when his cat dies... and Japanese business culture tends to be one of the most stressful ones on the planet!!!
*grumble grumble... steps off soapbox...
(great, now I wanna take another shower... *icky)
