Long fight to find the best man for the Republican to run. I am glad he won.....the question now is can he rebuild his support and find enough dissatified, disillusioned and disheartened Democracts to win in the fall.

Boy, that is a lot of Ds to put together. We just need to keep Obama on his talking point of hope without means and ways...and Hillary on her talking point of social service programs and thier costs. Both lead to the big Ds.

Add the Ds to together and you get defeat for the Democratics in November!

He is going to needs votes from any place he can find them.
McCainOcrat votes....are actually 2 vote gain for him. One less
for the Democracy and one more for him. It is the biggest vote
block that he can change that ratio with.

I'm not sure how fantastic a job John McCain has done, but he certainly has outlasted his peers. He certainly had an impressive record as a serviceman and made some good improvements after getting caught up as a member of the Keating Five, but I am dumbfounded with his reasoning to continue fighting a war that we might win, but cost us the peace of that region. Having been in and through the middle-east many times in my life I recognize that it is not one that can be pacified or ruled. The culture there is now what it was centuries ago and shows no serious signs of change or improvement. He certainly should have learned in Vietnam that "pacification" has never been successful.

John McCain does indeed have many good features and traits, but frankly I'm tired of hearing him put so much of his platform on this war. I want to hear a solid program about createing jobs and taking care of this nation first and foremost. I'm not talking about protectionism, I just want to see the man's plan on how he can make the homefront the priority, then fit in this war with the "left over" dollars.

It's simple economic's. We can't win over there if we can't win over here first ...

I think McCain is the only real electable candidate. If Clinton and Obama keep throwing jabs at each other it is going to disgust their support base. Neither one of those people are right or good for the country.

McCain's age is his biggest problem, however, I hope I am half as healthy as him at that age. I feel he should have been president years ago. I know things would have been handled a lot differently.

I give 100% of my support to McCain even if a lot of the programs and things he supports are killing my area of the country. I feel he is the only person who has been true to what he believes. If he supports a program, bill, or any measure in government from the beginning, he follows through to the bitter end. NAFTA for example. He supports it. So did the others until the pools showed most voters were against it. Now Clinton and Obama are both against it. How predictable they are.

If either Clinton or Obama get elected then all I can say is "Shame on the voters" and woe is America.

You have to live quite awhile and through many ups & downs to be the person to Lead Others...McCain, has many years of service to & for his country, it only seems right that he would be a well respected "Commander & Chief" especially for the men & women fighting this war in Iraq. I would want someone sending me into a battle for which they at least "had a clue" what was going on.

I don't believe any of us can say we agree with everything our presidential choice says or stands for, but it's our duty and responsibility to wisely choose the man or woman who comes closest to our own convictions of who could lead this country in the next 4 years.

I find it both hilarious as well as ironic that many of the so called "terrorists" and their supporters are in favour of McCain also, as that will mean four more years of war and deaths for the Americans around the world and more chances to hit back They are actually promoting his election among many in the US and also Clinton's for the same reason...more war without end...Politics does indeed make for strange bedfellows indeed

I visited the Council on Foreign Relations website this morning and read an article of how they are preparing the blueprint for our next President, for the Middle East. It will be available to the President from day one. I posted it here in the forums. A good read for all of those who believe that the President makes the decisions if we continue in war or not.

The plans are drawn up for whomever is President, decided in advance, what strageties will be used.

McCain, Hillary, and Obama are all affilliated with CFR. Whoever wins, CFR has their person in office so they can run the show.

They are all in bed together and have been for many years!

Could you list the sources that confirm which and what so called "terrorists" support McCain? This is new information to me and I like to stay informed. I would like to learn more about this. I have also heard statements stating the terrorists want Obama and/or Hillary because they (more likely) will leave the middle east far more quickly (although I believe that is just posturing and it wont happen when and if they take office).
Are you saying that the terrorists want us to stay so they are supporting McCain? Isn't it sad that so many statements surrounding politics are more influenced by ideology and political goals instead of facts but I guess some people have motives other than the truth. Thanks in advance for listing your sources.
