what time period would you choose?

B'lieve I'd choose being born in the late 1700's, or early 1800's. Given that my favorite time period is the Western Fur Trade Era from roughly 1800 (actually starting with Lewis & Clark's Corp of Discovery) through about 1840. I've spent much of my life researching this time period and (through living history/experimental archeology) presenting to and teaching the general public.

Second choice would be during the era of the Western Indian wars (roughly 1859 through 1888), which I've also spent a great deal of time researching/portraying. In fact, quite a few mountain men went on to become civilian Army scouts. (Given that they already knew a good deal more about the country than the majority of officers they served under.)

Seriously, if I had to choose a particular time, I'd choose the not-too-distant future.

But that would be something of a gamble. You could end up as a sex-slave for mutants or something...hmmm day dream shamrock
