what time period would you choose?

i'd definitely pick the 60's the whole hippy revolution, psychedelia, the empowered youth, the great music, sex, drugs and rock'n'roll and the general trippiness of it all!

I would have wated to be born in the early 1900's everything was more easyer and people had better morals things were cheaper and more simple!!!!!!

In my case its pretty straight forward, Japan, and about 600 years ago.Bushido in nature and living as Samurai would have suited me very well.

Respect, honour and devotion to excellence at any given task is now a forgotten trait, if it even existed here in the west to begin with.

Failing that i'd like to have met Sun Tsu, mind you going back to 6 centuries BC is a long way to go without batteries for my mp3 player.

Wouldn't change a thing about living in the 50s, 60,s 70,s 80,s 90,s and now the 21st century.

I've personally seen transport move from donkey and carts to rockets and jets.
clothes go from tightly corsted to barely there.
from only the super rich with education and other priveliges, to everyone having a chance at bettering their circumstances.
from having no electricity to going solar power.
from no running water to inside toilets.
from cutting hay with a sythe to super combines.
from drudgery to dishwashers.
from handwashing clothes to automatic washer dryers.
from isolation to affordable worldwide travel.
from religious oppression to freedom of choice.
from epidemics to vaccines.
from telegraphs to computers.

In what other era have people come so far in so little time?
peace

Late 60's would have been awesome. The doors of perception were flung right open and I would have loved to hang with the flower children out at Golden Gate Park and be with spirit of Haight-Ashbury. Fight the establishment and give peace a chance!
Plus I would have started a lot of protests during that demonstration decade....when huge groups of people would actually get off their asses:
369 civil-rights demonstrations
104 antiwar demonstrations
91 student protests on campus

Damn digital age is keeping everyone indoors. Oh well, still have my flower in my hair.

Great Topic and some interesting responses!

I guess that I would have like to have been around during the American Revolution. I would have signed up with the Continental Marines and fought for a real cause, Freedom. After the war I would have either explored the interior or settled in the Smokey Mountains.

I am only prepared for now, sure there may have been fun times in the past but there are downfalls also. In the sixtys people were stiff there was a lot of resistance to the hippies, the general public were conformist. The kids were fighting against that but it was a strugle.
There are things we take for granted now , electricity, plumbing, lack of the plauge,no trough mouth, paved roads, someone else butchering the live stock, the internet, tv, the mop,,,ya the mop. Someone told me a story about asking their grand mother about her life , she saw man land on the moon and the creation of the lightbulb and many other great achevements of mankind she however said the greatest thing was the mop because you used to get on your hands and knees to scrub the floor but now you do not have to.

Right now is good for me , i'll travel into the future slowly to prevent the shock of what lies there.
