Deniz, procreation is the impetus of evolution. The desire to mate with another is instinctive, inborn, innate.

Those who disagree, take sex out of a relationship. Would anything--intelligence, attractiveness, humor, anything at all--preserve the species? This isn't a question of whether it's better that intelligent life exists or not. This is a scientific fact of evolution. The desire you have for sex is inborn. If you are a homosexual, you can't have kids, and so what? But the species survives because of sexual desire.

Most people know about the scientific fact that when someone is "enchanted," if you will, by another, this enchantment is in fact sexual desire n itself. Whether or not the couple copulates could depends on whether one mate finds the other stupid, dirty, etc. But "love" is sexual desire.

This "love" doesn't imply monogamy. I knew a couple with an open marriage. The husband and wife both screwed who they wanted, and they entered the marriage knowing that's what they wanted. There are also couples who swing. The husband and wife switch off with another husband and wife. Few people are not jealous enough to live one of these lifestyles, but some can and want to persue it. I don't judge anyone for their preferences.

What ends up keeping the ones of these who stay together, stay together, is familiarity and how well they like each other and get along together. They would rather be together than not. The longer you're around someone who you more or less get along with, the more you miss them when they are not in your company. Maybe some would define this as "love."

"Love" is not something sacred. It is no more sacred than eating or sleeping. But because it is so intimate, most people tend to be jealous about sharing a partner. Both partners may look, but if their conscience convicts them against having sex with another, I personally think, the relationship gets stronger. However, I do not demean open or swinging relationships. I just don't think that the word "love" is somehow magical.

Each couple must decide this for themselves.

Love is the attachment that results from deeply appreciating another's goodness. To me anyways.
