My America

Posted: Mar 14, 2008, 9:29 AM CST
As a proud American I believe it is my place to put this up,I am not a religious woman but I am spiritual,this is for all of those supposed Americans that are always helping to bash our country and finding humor in the fact that others do,this is also for all of those countries that find the humor and disgust when speaking of my Blessed Land,no more than that,it is just that simple,thank you for viewing.`

Alabama
Judge

Some of you may be wondering what Judge Roy Moore has been doing since he was removed from the bench for refusing to remove the Ten Commandments from his courtroom wall. Please read the poem he wrote

The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama. Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama! The judge's poem sums it up quite well.

America the beautiful,
or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride;
I'm glad they'll never see.

Babies piled in dumpsters,
Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty;
your house is on the sand.

Our children wander aimlessly
poisoned by cocaine
choosing to indulge their lusts,
when God has said abstain

From sea to shining sea,
our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God's love
and a need to always pray

We've kept God in our
temples,how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
and Heaven is His throne.

We've voted in a government
that's rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges;
who throw reason out the door,

Too soft to place a killer
in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
before he leaves the womb.

You think that God's not
angry,that our land's a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
before His judgment comes?

How are we to face our God,
from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
but stem this evil tide?

If we who are His children,
will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face
and mend our evil way:

Then God will hear from Heaven;
and forgive us of our sins,
He'll heal our sickly land
and those who live within.

But, America the Beautiful,
If you don't - then you will see,
A sad but Holy God
withdraw His hand from Thee.

~~Judge Roy Moore~~

This says it all. May we all forward this message and offer our prayers for Judge Moore to be blessed and for America to wake up and realize what we need to do to keep OUR America the Beautiful.

IN GOD WE TRUST!

I'm also a spiritual person and actually, was raised in Alabama. I like the poem, but I disagreed all along with Judge Moore posting the Ten Commandments in his courtroom because this is a country that is supposed to separate church and state. As a judge, Judge Moore knows this. It seems obvious to me that by posting the Ten Commandments, Judge Moore was saying "This is what I use to guide my judgements, not the constitution of the US."

I wonder what our motto, "In God We Trust" is supposed to mean. I wonder what the founders of this great country really meant?confused

Point well taken, Fin. But what then did they mean when they separated church and state.

And if the curch is supposed to have a hand in the courts, which religion did they specify? America has so many.

The Founders never mentioned God in the Constitution, except as part of a date. "In God We Trust" is not part of the Constitution, but was first placed on coins in the 1800s and then declared by Congress to be the national motto. This (arguably) did nothing to compromise the founders' stated intent of separating church and state.

also good point but what is a judge supposed to fall back on when making his decision as a human,that factor has to come into play and there is no denying that,would you prefer him be a non believer in anything? what would his/her judgment be based on then? would really like to know,and please don't say the laws,those are already looked at and are part of the factor of the judgment,there has to be the human factor too,where does that fit in pray tell?

This country was founded on Christian beliefs. Seperation of church and state is not having religions rule the courts. Considering "I" fell "ALL" organized religions are controlling & greedy, this is a good thing.

Churches are simply another way for greedy people to get your money or make you feel guilty if they don't.

very mad very mad

There is no "seperation" clause in the constitution. There is an "establishment" clause.

The judgement should be based on nothing more than the law. There is no need for it to fall to anything else.

If religions aren't to rule the court then why have the Ten Commandments in your courtroom?

Our basic laws in this country are based on the ten commandments.
