It is considered entertainment in the eyes of most people. But it really isn't that big of a deal since the media has been working to desensitize society for years. Things like that on tv are no big deal to anyone these days, it's moreso just accepted as it is. Then when something really does happen outside of filming studios, our reaction is, that's a sad story, I feel bad for the victims family and we move on with our daily lives. It's cruddy that things are this way, but it's life and we'll always move on.

The mentality of adult people is stable and it is difficult examples of violence to affect them. But the psyche of children is more labile and sexual and drug abuses often provoke them to try things they have already seen on the television.
