Have a 18 and 21 year old sons. Don't give in. Stick to the rules you set down and never waver. Easy for me to 'say' but actually doing it is where I go wrong.
They both turned out great though. It wasn't so great when they lived with their mother.
Good luck. You should get a lot of good advice about this from others.

rolling on the floor laughing Classic!

Yup, it`s a bit difficult when we have our own vices.......as bad examples? I go outside to smoke, sit on the back step in the sunshine or at night gaze at the stars, and my grand-daughter of 7 came to join me ........ with a rolled up piece of white paper stuck in her mouth as her cigarette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have two older kids and have always been very rigid with the rules, have got used to being told by them that I am cruel...as the youngest she has never given a minutes worry so was a shock

yeah i`m glad you seen this one coming, i don`t know what worst you trying o give up the smokes or trying to convice your preteen that it`s a bad habit to take up. kids tend to take up habits that there parents do. are you willing to quite to set an example for the sake of your preteen?

I have given up and started again a few times, thats why she didnt get a red backside to be honest, since I smoke I coldnt do that and understand that she was curious, I sat her down and went through the dangers, cost and how hard it is to give up

How did she think she would get away with smoking in her room though? I got caught smoking in my room when i was 15 and tried to stub it out on the carpet. Not a smart move. It was my sister's 18th birthday party and i was a little drunk. Thats my excuse rolling on the floor laughing Luckily enough a friend of mine got totally wasted and feel off a stool. it took some of the attention off me laugh

Having said that, i don't think i saw the outside world for quite some timerolling on the floor laughing
