How did she think she would get away with smoking in her room though? I got caught smoking in my room when i was 15 and tried to stub it out on the carpet. Not a smart move. It was my sister's 18th birthday party and i was a little drunk. Thats my excuse Luckily enough a friend of mine got totally wasted and feel off a stool. it took some of the attention off me

Having said that, i don't think i saw the outside world for quite some time

Wasn't really serious, but anyway, my sister lived in the states and her son got mixed up with the wrong crowd and did everything any teenager isn't supposed to do.

He was sent to live in Africa for about 6 months ( normally what most africans i know abroad do to their defiant kids), and was begging to leave the country. Not because he actually 'suffered', but it wasn't that pleasant for him to not be around his normal routine of misbehaving.

He's now here in college though. He's a a good kid. laugh

Come down hard on her now Vonney....my eldest son started smoking when he was 16....neither I nor my ex ever smoked so I was horrified....anyway he is now 24 and is struggling at the moment with giving up....it is like living with a monster instead of my mild mannered lovely son....anyway i think if I had given him a harder time he wouldnt be struggling with it now....blues

i know so easy to always think of them as your baby, then they make you realize they are growing up ! I remember my daughter asking me when she was 18 if her boyfriend could stay over, that did shock me, ok i knew what they probably did but the fact she was so open about it, i was gobsmacked !

I have two older kids and have always been very rigid with the rules, have got used to being told by them that I am cruel...as the youngest she has never given a minutes worry so was a shock

then why the crackdown?Use this to maybe set an example and quit yourself.I tried one cig at 12 and never smoked again.I would talk to your daughter and tell her why you don't want her to follow in your smoking footsteps.
