I have a granddaughter who is half Muslim, plus 2 grand kids who are part native and one part black. I have no problem with the fact that they are half not white but my daughter does not want people to know that one of her kids is half Muslim because of the way she might be treated. I feel in this day and age to feel ashamed of the fact you are part Muslim and will be treated badly should not happen.

wave Kitty

The fact that the father is muslim, doesn't make the child half-muslim. Religion is not a race nor genetic.

She's just a kid. laugh

He does not practice the muslim religion but says his nationality is muslim, both his parents are and his Dad is really high up in the government before he retired, which he uses against us all the time to get what he wants.

You lost me Kitty. laugh

Religion isn't inherited, furthermore, she's just a child and hasn't chosen whether to be muslim or not.
Lastly, one cannot be half-muslim. They are either muslim or not.

im getting confused too...grin

I was born with a christian mom and a catholic dad, i chose to go witht he christian religion instead of catholic. granted its not completely the same kitty, but your grandchild having a muslim father doesnt make her muslim, unless she chooses to practice the islam/muslim faith. they cant change the color they were born with and should never want too, but they can change their religious beliefs of what their parents are.
My brother studied religion in college and for sometime considered converting to the islam faith, which came as a shock for us...but he ended up remaining a christian, but is marrying a dedicated catholic..

No one can be half this or that in religion. I know over here, the child is considered to be of the religion that his father is. But, it depends on how it is in your country. That is , is the child automatically considered to be of the same religion as his dad or does he have a choice ?

If the child can choose when he grows ..it makes no diff. what who says.

Besides, the entire religion issue is used to discriminate in various ways thats all.
