i made a college film 3 years ago called 'they also served ' it was about 300 years black people has spent fighting in wars for the britsh empire !
there was a black sea captain fighting for the british navy in the carribean at the same time admiral lord nelson got shot dead at the battle of trafalger !
as part of the film i followed ex west indian servicemen and women to the seaford british legion club where ex servicemen and women from all over the world attened the 60th annervesry celebration of the end of world war 2 . ( they won the raffle prize and got the icening cake )! there were some very interesting people of all clours and nationalities at that party that came from all over the world to be at that event ....that would come from all over the world to be together again if anybody ever threatened britian or the commomwealth !
what those people had to say was far more interesting and uniting that what you and your freinds have got to say !
i also spoketo and interveiwed black servicemen and women that fought in world war 2 and one of the things they could'nt wait to do is take me to the military seaford graveyard to show me the graves of west indian men and women that lost their lives fighting for great britain in world war 1.
