take a warm wet washcloth, make some slices of ginger with a peeler & put them into the folded washcloth & put in microwave for 10-20 seconds. Careful, it will be hot.... take the clothe to your mouth & nose & breath that steam in. It should help to calm your esophagus & expectorate the phlegm.
