Since there is no way of knowing initially who the person is attempting to IM me - all of the IMs I receive are ignored, unless I know the person and they request to have an IM conversation, beforehand.

I found out the other day, completely on accident... but I had the cs site opened twice on my computer, and when I got an IM, I clicked on the other one, looked in messages in the IM part, and it tells you who they are that is IM'ing you. I think it would work with only one window open, but I am not sure, I have never tried it!

I at least open them, if its someone I dont want to chat with, I just close it as soon as it gets opened! I know thats a bit mean, but I dont want to talk to all those young guys in different countries either! And I know I am young too, but still like a man at least 25, no younger, and it seems that 18-22 year olds are the ones IM'ing me! There are a couple of my friends I like to chat with on there... ok there is only one person, but I leave mine on in case he has time to write me!

If someone wants to try to IM me, I will see if it works to look with just one window open!! Thats handy to know I think so you can just ignore it if you dont want to chat with that person!!

Well, thanks to you, we now know that it does work!! If someone is getting and Im and wants to know who it is, go into your messages and click on the IM part to see who it is messaging you!! Hope this helps some of you out!!

That's good to know, for some. For me, though... I just don't like or appreciate the idea of a complete & total stranger launching an uninvited intrusion via an IM. Again, if I don't 'know' you, have never spoken before, or never agreed previously to have an IM discussion - then frankly I'm not interested in even seeing who it is in the 1st place.

Yes, I totally agree, thats why its good to see who is Im'in you before hand, that way if its a friend you can answer and chat with them, but if its someone who you dont know and have never spoken with, then you can just ignore it!

Oh yes I am sure you would!! I had one IM me a couple of days ago, I opened it not knowing who it was, and all he did was ask if I had a web cam!! Um ok, definately a perve!!! Just closed the window and didnt open it back up when he tried to keep talking!!
