I agree... food is great and a short term solution... education is the key. Just like the old saying goes

Give a man a fish feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish feed him for life. thumbs up wave

Africa's problem is a lot more complex than that. we get food aid and educational support from all corners, .. problem is where does the money end up ?

Majority of African leaders can single-handedly afford all the aid Africa gets in a year from their personal bank accounts and most of these accounts are in Europe and America.

I think its time Africa started looking in that direction and we should stop deceiving ourselves. dunno

sad flower Accidently he is African or “if I can” I shall say he is a coconut. In my view the problem in Africa is not made in Niggro but made in Euro. The problems is a diseases call greedy, merciless, and supremacy.

the Problem is with their slave masters who keep Plundering their natural resources, controlling their economies, their education, their dreams, and their childish hops.

The same guy who went there physically five-hundreds years ago to collect wealth and import slaves for sex and hard labour he is the one who still there and doing the SAME things but this time he is well prepare with technical manipulations and tools like world bank, IMF and the UN etc. peace

I don't think education is the problem. The regimes, yes...food yes...

I know PLENTY of people who have done well for themselves without a formal education.

EDUCATION..... That is my belief. Food aid creates dependency don`t you think?

Interesting that you twice mention the word "fight" ..... is not the main problem the fighting?.. which leaves little time for tilling the earth for food?

I am South African, and it broke my heart to see how hard the women work in the fields trying to raise their own food, besides building their own houses with their hands..... and working long hours to get a decent education for their children, so that they in turn do not suffer so much. handshake yay

confused Who are you talking about - that is 500 years old? If you talking about Jan van Riebeeck, then you got something wrong .....he is dead long ago ..... and no sex slaves were imported, unless you talking about people like my grandmother who was "imported" as a wife for my German grandfather stonemason - these women arrived by the boatloads.

There have been black leaders there since 1994 ( in SA)... paying themselves MEGA HUGE salaries and creating a gravy-train larger than any ever in existence.

The only other country, that used to be very wealthy, is ZImbabwe, that is now in total ruin - despite its Democracy - the same guy keeps gettiing voted in- and the people are starving.

The people there need to look carefully at their elected leaders, and start demanding accountability - such as the european countries do.... Or do what they did to rid themselves of Colonialism? They owe it to their childrens future to see their countries going well. And to rid themselves of the ideas of handouts.

I think the biggest problems are corruption & lack of education. then there's the pesky little problems of starvation/hunger, HIV/AIDS, war, ethnic cleansing (sounds so much more politically correct and sanitary than saying genocide), and many many more problems.

I believe immediate attention to the first two would help to eliminate or at least ease the others. JMO

Ms smoky I really respect you a lot because of so many reasons mainly you are a woman and of cause your age is forcing me to think ten times before I put a word under your name. If you re-read my comment I never mentioned any name of a country or person but you did, and for sure you put me in the right position to talk.handshake

Mr Conrad said “it’s a time to take some responsibility and stop blaming the others” quiet good and wise statement but I guess if the right thing has being said in the wrong place and face the wrong direction.confused

Mr Conrad you are old enough to think for yourself and if you look at one of Smokey’s comment she said she is from South Africa, a country which have over 25% of the world‘s gold, a country which have over 35% of the world’s diamonds a country which have more than 80% of the world’s platinum, a country which have one of the best land for farming and up to now is producing one the best faming products in the world but you know what?

she had 13% of her population were Europeans and from 1905 until 1994 they wrote a law which ban the 87% of Africans from owning a meter of the land under their feet, or any kind of small business forget about the big ones. Smoky said Mr Jan van Riebeeck is dead long ago, but I guess that Ms smoky forgot that Jan van Riebeack’s law just was halt in 1994 and his mindset still in the minds of many, many people while the fruits of his actions are undeniable.

Africans were forced to be only slaves on their own country or get out. That was physically force but from 1994 after long fight and the lost of so many lives the African has been allowed to be in the office but over 90% of the rich country’s wealth is technically in the hands of those who wrote the law in 1905 and no body can dare to ask a change of this otherwise the consequence will be worst than what is going on in Zimbabwe in the last few years.

Right now the government comes out with plan call BEE (black economic empowerment) and they proposed that they wish in 2015 Africans to have 15% of the African country’s economy but even that the grandsons of Mr Jan van Riebeeck are fighting it tooth & nails not happen.

With all this very limited control of the Africans over their country, South African governments is one of the best in the world and I guess supremacy is forcing some people to oppose truths like this to be told. Ms how can a computer which has been hacked and manipulate for five-hundred can just recover by running a small antivirus? That computer everybody will tell you that it need totally format, and sometimes you will need to change the hardrive, delete all old files, install a fresh window, get all of the updates and start storing new files and this process will take over five-hundreds years.

The Africans are the ones who goes underground and dig the gold, diamonds and platinum but who own it? Who fix the price? Where he live? What worries he have in his mind?

The Africans are the ones who work in the farms as farm labourers but who own the farms? How he got it from the first place? Who sale the products & where he sale it? How much he is making? How much he is spending as salaries of his labourers? What kind of life the labourers lives? Etc those of you who don’t know the life in South Africa, the best salary of a mine worker is R3000(less than 300 Euros a month) and a farm worker is R1000 (less than 100 Euros) I said this is the best salaries and I challenge anyone here to prove me wrong. And here I talk about South Africa because smoky brought that name in otherwise bring any other African country and I will tell you exactly what is going on. cheers

It starts with the children.Educate them, teach them what they need to know about about havng enough food but also economics and and so on.They need to be given a solid self-worth,a reason to feelthey can make changes, that they count as people as much as anyone else.It is sickening to my stomach when I see true sories of what has happened over there.Education is key. They need to know they can make change with pen and paper. As it is,all these children see will grow up to hate and try to use what has been used on them.Violence, that's all they are taught, not in school or maybe not by parents but from their everyday life.It is tragic what has gone on all these years.I am no expert don' pretend to be,but this is my opinion from what I have seen and heard.
