zambe: Ms smoky I really respect you a lot because of so many reasons mainly you are a woman and of cause your age is forcing me to think ten times before I put a word under your name. If you re-read my comment I never mentioned any name of a country or person but you did, and for sure you put me in the right position to talk.

Mr Conrad said “it’s a time to take some responsibility and stop blaming the others ” quiet good and wise statement but I guess if the right thing has being said in the wrong place and face the wrong direction.

Mr Conrad you are old enough to think for yourself and if you look at one of Smokey’s comment she said she is from South Africa, a country which have over 25% of the world‘s gold, a country which have over 35% of the world’s diamonds a country which have more than 80% of the world’s platinum, a country which have one of the best land for farming and up to now is producing one the best faming products in the world but you know what?

she had 13% of her population were Europeans and from 1905 until 1994 they wrote a law which ban the 87% of Africans from owning a meter of the land under their feet, or any kind of small business forget about the big ones. Smoky said Mr Jan van Riebeeck is dead long ago , but I guess that Ms smoky forgot that Jan van Riebeack’s law just was halt in 1994 and his mindset still in the minds of many, many people while the fruits of his actions are undeniable.

Africans were forced to be only slaves on their own country or get out. That was physically force but from 1994 after long fight and the lost of so many lives the African has been allowed to be in the office but over 90% of the rich country’s wealth is technically in the hands of those who wrote the law in 1905 and no body can dare to ask a change of this otherwise the consequence will be worst than what is going on in Zimbabwe in the last few years.

Right now the government comes out with plan call BEE (black economic empowerment) and they proposed that they wish in 2015 Africans to have 15% of the African country’s economy but even that the grandsons of Mr Jan van Riebeeck are fighting it tooth & nails not happen.

With all this very limited control of the Africans over their country, South African governments is one of the best in the world and I guess supremacy is forcing some people to oppose truths like this to be told. Ms how can a computer which has been hacked and manipulate for five-hundred can just recover by running a small antivirus? That computer everybody will tell you that it need totally format, and sometimes you will need to change the hardrive, delete all old files, install a fresh window, get all of the updates and start storing new files and this process will take over five-hundreds years.

The Africans are the ones who goes underground and dig the gold, diamonds and platinum but who own it? Who fix the price? Where he live? What worries he have in his mind?

The Africans are the ones who work in the farms as farm labourers but who own the farms? How he got it from the first place? Who sale the products & where he sale it? How much he is making? How much he is spending as salaries of his labourers? What kind of life the labourers lives? Etc those of you who don’t know the life in South Africa, the best salary of a mine worker is R3000(less than 300 Euros a month) and a farm worker is R1000 (less than 100 Euros) I said this is the best salaries and I challenge anyone here to prove me wrong. And here I talk about South Africa because smoky brought that name in otherwise bring any other African country and I will tell you exactly what is going on.

nomindgames: It starts with the children.Educate them, teach them what they need to know about about havng enough food but also economics and and so on.They need to be given a solid self-worth,a reason to feelthey can make changes, that they count as people as much as anyone else.It is sickening to my stomach when I see true sories of what has happened over there.Education is key. They need to know they can make change with pen and paper. As it is,all these children see will grow up to hate and try to use what has been used on them.Violence, that's all they are taught, not in school or maybe not by parents but from their everyday life.It is tragic what has gone on all these years.I am no expert don' pretend to be,but this is my opinion from what I have seen and heard.

Yes, it is sad. The main problem existing now seems to be the aftermath of the years of turmoil, when these young men and women of today grew up in an atmosphere of violence/riots/police brutality.....whilst their parents fought for equality.

Unfortunately, the black people seem to blame anyone with a white skin - instead of the government of those days, which was the exclusive domain of a segment of the population of whites. (Witness - the killing of that American girl Amy who travelled innocently into an area inhabited by black people, because she was white).

So, like I said before - the solution is only EDUCATION. Unfortunately, again, the new government is seemingly not interested in that solution, despite their manifesto, for they have made schooling so expensive for the average parents, overcrowding classrooms, non discipline of teachers, student travel costs are prohibitive, violence in the schools goes unpunished/unsolved, unhygienic school conditions, teenage pregnancy, rape in the schools, drug dealing on school premises ...... while the government hosts extravagant wild parties, buys corporate private jets for its ministers, and the Prime Minister is hardly ever in his own country - so much so its become a joke.

Thank you Zambe, for replying to my post, and for your respect. I know you did not mention any names of any countries - I just replied about SA because that is where I grew up. In those terrible years of Apartheid. And it was absolutely a terrifying time, not just for black people, but for whites like myself and my family whose parents worked subversively to overthrow that government of Nationalists. If you followed the subsequent revelations after 1994, you will be aware of the many murders committed by that government against "white agitators" - and blamed on "communists".

Unfortunately, just like the Americans did to the American Indians - when invaders invade a country, they claim the land. Subsequent farm owners have to buy their land from the "original" claimants - and this is what happened also in South AFrica. Now the government is doing what Zimbabwe is doing, and claiming back the farmlands and giving it to black ownership.... who are expected to increase the food production of the country. So far, this does not seem to be working. Hence the exodus from the country of those who dont give a shit anymore.

I guess smoky you are a politician, because those liars and manipulators always try to get something to say so they can sale their evil agendas. Who told you that South African government does not interested on improving the life of the South Africans by embarking on the Education?

I am not a South African government official or even a South African but if you look at the qualification registry of South Africa it has been growing accordingly since1994.

I just read someway here on the internet that even the government ministers are getting private studies by their own money on their free times, and they are registering themselves in place like the University of Cap town and other institutions around the country.

And always in their annually budget the education department get the biggest share. however one of the best and most important education a human being must get is a self-esteem as sister Nomindgames said, and I think South African government is on the process of asking for their kids to be taught by their mother tangs.

and if you well know that the time of the notorious Mr Jan van Riebeeck and his predecessors they were only worry and obligate to spend money and care for only the 13% of a country of 47 million you should understand that is not any easy task for a new and weak government to provide for the 87% who were all on dire need of everything.

Once in President Thabo Mbeki’s speech he pictured the imbalance life in South Africa and said “the life in South Africa is just like a small island of rich whites surrounded by a big ocean of poorer blacks”.

if you use to follow the world news then you know how the suppose be South African citizens but turnout to be a piece of freaky and racists European loyals manipulated this and tried to show the world the hatred of Thabo Mbeki to whites by this statement.

You know that these who are extremely rich by exploiting the country in the last five-hundred years, all of them are whites and all or 99% of them don’t care or give damn about the low class citizens who happen to be Africans. Those rich don’t even want pay taxies of their wealth and they do whatever they can to avoid that.

The greediness & supremacy attitude does not end there but they do and talk whatever they want around the world to vandalize the good intention and hard work of the Africans who were told yesterday that freedom is only for the 13% but today say freedom for the 100%. All of this and more is just to keep up the old and silly mentality which always picks the colour first over any other valuable quality.

If you look at the worldly problem of ill moral behaviour of the youth and the problem of rape, teenager pregnancy and even crime, South Africa is not in the top ten of these ugly lists but yet the bios and resist media will always try the psychologically warfare. Sometimes they use Technical Science and engineers like the one who start this forum.

“: Another Chance to Combat Genocide [in Africa]”

by Eric Reeves

ANOTHER AFRICAN genocide is gathering pace in the far western Darfur region of Sudan just as the grim 10th anniversary of the slaughter by Hutu militants of Tutsis and politically moderate Hutus in Rwanda in April 1994. The slaughter of perhaps 800,000 people in Rwanda is being commemorated.

The National Islamic Front regime in Khartoum, which came to power in a military coup in 1989 (deposing an elected government and aborting a nascent peace agreement with southern Sudan), has been conducting war in Darfur by the most brutal means imaginable over the past 14 months. It is systematically bombing African villages and refugees, attacking undefended noncombatants on the ground, blowing up vital water wells and severely impeding humanitarian access to more than 800,000 internally displaced persons.

The civil war in Darfur is not directly related to the catastrophic 20-year conflict in southern Sudan, which the National Islamic Front pursued when it came to power. Rather, it is the regime's brutal military response to an insurgency by the African tribal groups, who have been denied a fair share of national resources and political power. They are unprotected from raids by marauding Arab milit

Though the phrase of choice has been "ethnic cleansing," a senior U.N. official recently noted that the appropriate point of reference is the Rwandan genocide. Mukesh Kapila, U.N. humanitarian coordinator for Sudan until yesterday, has been remarkably forthright about the realities of Darfur.

Mr. Kapila, who was present at the Rwandan genocide, told reporters March 19: "[War in Darfur is] more than a conflict, it's an organized attempt to do away with one set of people. ... The only difference between Rwanda and Darfur is the numbers involved of dead, tortured and raped.... This is ethnic cleansing, this is the world's greatest humanitarian crisis."

“: Another Chance to Combat Genocide [in Africa]”

quote]

G'day, jbibiza! grin

I was also born in Africa and lived, as a child in both Uganda and Zaire (now Congo Undemocratic)......... I also lived and went to school in India and in the UK and 'other places' - kids all over the world start off sharing some basic values, but by the time they are young adults they tend to reflect the views of their parents; this saddened me then and saddens me now...........I went to University as a so-called 'mature' student and both UK students (however rebelious they thought they were) and other European students and international students merely mirrored the views of their parents.

What scares me are masses of young people with chips on their shoulders - whether they are poor uneducated Africans or 'poor' uneducated yobs who both have no respect for law and are filled with resentment that their lives are not what they believe they should be because it is somebody else's fault.

We need to teach young people respect and the sacrifice of being part of a community and individual responsibility.

There was no shame in being poor a few decades ago; one could be poor yet proud at the same time........... now it seems that the whole world is overcome by greed and envy and the desire to wreck the lives of those perceived as having a 'good' life whether they have earned it or not.

Africans and Europeans and all other people share this one thing in common - we can all try to improve our lives and the lives of others or we can wallow in self-pity and hatred and envy and anger at what cards life has dealt us.

I honour poor people who are decent and do their best under difficult circumstances. I despise animals who use their poverty as an excuse to maim and kill those they perceive as being better off.

thumbs up Hi Rusty, I'm at a complete and total loss of how anyone can help at this time. I'm involved with a group of people here in Ibiza that are doing some pretty great things in Cambodia... we've set up an orphanage and every child there is getting an education, medical and dental coverage and a lot of love, we've got a program set up with a well known artist who is teaching kids to paint, they are selling their paintings to tourists and making more money then their parents, we also help to fund a medical center there.

We tossed the idea around of trying to set up something similar in Africa, but without taking our lives in our hands there really is no way to do it until the people there stop slaughtering each other. How do you educate, how do you teach with everything going on? I recently watched a film called "Blood Diamonds" a truly horrible film to watch but one I think everyone should see... I don't think I could ever wear a diamond again after seeing it.

It is wrong to approach women one doesn't know, like there's a relationship. We are not wild animals in the jungle. My skin colour is of no link to any random african's blood.

When you write/talk to any stranger, you start with a 'hello' or face the wrath of the same if not higher level of insolence.

Courtesy costs nothing.
