I think one of the major problems with Africa is Greed!! To many tribal leaders become dictators and squander all the money that is sent in the form of foreign aid. This money ends up in the pockets of despot kings, warlords and generals. The fields and the tables remain empty!!

"The Lords of Poverty The Power, Prestige, and Corruption of the International Aid Business". by Graham Hancock all are very new and good books, infact the book the white man's Burden has won soo many awards and recognition around the world, it has been chosen as the book of the year twice by the Washington post. thank you

Three hundred years ago, such problems didn't exist. Conflicts and corruption around the world - Africa, the middle east, southeast Asia, etc. - all stem from European nations and the US meddling and imposing their will on such nations. Whenever a country starts talking about its own "national interests", it's inevitably done to the detriment of at least one other nation.

And as for food, there's enough to go around. The issue is greed of international markets and traders, not availability or amounts.

I posted about this once before when there was a discussion about problems around the world and how money given to charities rarely goes where it should. We created our own and know that every penny we raise goes directly to helping kids in Cambodia. The orphanage has ten kids living there, it only costs 250 euros per child per year to give them 3 square meals a day, medical and dental care, an education and a home where they have their own space and a loving environment.

For every euro we spend on art supplies for the kids they earn over 10 euros, which is an amazing daily income there, as I said... their parents don't earn that much money.

We help with airfares and medical supplies for doctors from all over Europe who volunteer a month of their time and have never been in a position that we didn't have doctors wanting to go.

What we do is really simple and doesn't take much time. One man who owns a restaurant adds a .50 cent charge to each meal during the tourist season and made 10,000 euros from this last summer... I do a fund raiser and get several bands and liquor companies to donate time and product as well as local business's to donate prizes for a raffle and usually make about 6,000 to 7,000 euros, and several other people are doing bring and buy sales or sponsoring a child for a year.

We're not helping millions, but there are 10 kids safe and off the streets, 60 kids making an income that allows them to help their families and an average of 100 people a month getting medical care that couldn't afford it on their own.

We have hired local people to run the orphanage and have student volunteers that help out. On an average each of us spends may 30 to 40 hours a year on this project... as you can see, it doesn't take a lot, just a few people who care.

It's really funny to know that the west have such democracy which does not allow anyone to intervene on anyone’s affairs even your child, you can’t involve on her or his things and you can’t force him to do anything. But the same west who wrote and obey these lows gave themselves the right to go out of their borders and force other nations to do things.

I don't think the 2nd and 3rd world are on need of anything call Aid or HELL- p, but they are on need of THIER FULL RIGHT.

Government leaders should not be squandering their time on University studies - they get free honoury degrees anyway, and will never earn more than they are presently earning!

If the Education Dept of SA is getting the biggest share of the budget - why is it in such a mess, with their teachers regularly going on strike for higher wages? Why can matriculants not even receive their Certificates? (I tried for a 2yrs to "find" my sons certificate, with no success - due to total departmental confusion and chaos).

There are 11 Official languages in SA - Not enough schools/teachers for the present chaos - how will they manage to teach in 11 languages, PLUS the extra 2 required for a Pass mark? Presently they do not even have any qualified teachers of Zulu, dominant language of only ONE province.

however this is not because I am scaring that you are going deport me because I am here legally and for sure there are Swiss people who are in my country and the day I was flying here from my country the plan was full and if I am right I was the only dark skin person in that plan, but the rests was whites probably from Swiss.
